A new study has found the age at which Brits are most adventurous

Thirty is the age we are at our most adventurous, according to a study.

Researchers who polled 2,000 UK adults pinpointed the point when we’re desperate to let our hair down and experience high-octane sports and new cultures.

Upon reaching their third decade, those polled admitted they’re ‘champing at the bit’ to get away from the daily grind, having established themselves in their careers and social circles.

The findings emerged after 59 per cent of the population said they tend to stay in their comfort zone, while just 30 per cent considered themselves to be someone who seizes the day.

Commissioned by The Oxford Ski Company, the research also revealed the things we most want to do but haven’t gotten round to yet – including swimming with dolphins and bungee jumping.

Rupert Longsdon, Founder and MD of The Oxford Ski Company, said: “No-one can accuse the British of lacking ambition, as these results show.

“There are some incredible and life-changing experiences – it’s just a shame we sometimes struggle to achieve them.’’

Researching family trees, getting a dog and learning to dance also made the ‘must do, but haven’t yet’ list.

Writing a novel and going glamping are included too, along with learning to dance and eating in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Other ambitions include moving house, getting married and changing career.

Amid this, the study also found 80 per cent of the population have visited Europe, nearly half have been to North America, and three in ten have travelled to Africa and Asia.

And one in four said they hope to try extreme sports like skiing and snowboarding at some point in the future.

Whistler in Canada emerged as the dream destination for skiing followed by Zermatt in Switzerland and Three Valleys in France.

Rupert Longsdon added: “We’re very pleased to be introducing clients to the thrill of skiing, in a diverse selection of locations.

“We think every dog can learn new tricks, and you’re never too old to broaden your horizons and try exciting new things’’.
