Millions of Brits want to take a look through the keyhole at Windsor Castle for a peek into the life of the Queen

Millions of Brits want to take a look through the keyhole at Windsor Castle for a peek into the life of the Queen, a study has found.

If Brits could be a ‘fly on the wall’ inside any celebrity home, almost one in four would like to get a candid look behind the castle walls to see what Queen Elizabeth II does away from the cameras.

And one in eight POTUS-curious Brits would prefer to have a nose around the White House under the Trump Administration.

Other celebrity lives which pique the public’s interest include Beyoncé, Simon Cowell and the Beckhams.

The study was commissioned by TV channel Sky Witness which launched this week as the new home of the biggest and latest US drama on Sky, where viewers get to witness great drama unfold.

A spokesperson for Sky Witness said: “From our findings it feels like Brits want to find themselves at the heart of the action more often.

“It’s only natural to be curious about these larger-than-life figures and personalities, and there is something inimitable about witnessing these people and moments in the flesh.”

In order to find themselves at the heart of the action more often, 73 per cent of those polled think they could do more to get out and participate in potentially historic or important events.

It also emerged 31 per cent of Brits experience FOMO – a Fear Of Missing Out – at least once a week.

And rightly so, as homebody Brits will regret missing out on 24 events over the course of 2018, with a third already feeling disappointment at not witnessing a recent historical event.

Fifteen per cent wish they could have been in the stands to watch the World Cup Semi Finals, in which England were knocked out by Croatia.

And one in seven Brits confessed to pining for an invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

But 36 per cent admit their main reason for wanting to be in attendance at these big occasions is so they can brag to friends and family.

And one in five crave the opportunity to be part of a historic moment, with half believing they have already borne witness to a major historical event in their lifetime.

The study also asked Brits to consider the next 12 months, and the events they won’t want to miss.

One in four would love the opportunity to go along to the New Year’s Eve firework display along the River Thames to welcome in 2019.

Eighteen per cent would like to get tickets to 2019’s Wimbledon tennis championships, and 14 per cent want the chance to get lost in the muddy moment of Glastonbury Festival.

The off-kilter humour of Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an event 14 per cent of Brits are keen to attend in the next year.

And one in 10 wants to experience the multicultural sights and sounds of Notting Hill Carnival.
