3 Ways You Can Help Others in the Wake of COVID-19

There’s no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people all over the world. To date, there have been over 8 million cases across the globe. While many areas of the world are starting to reopen and adjust to a ‘new normal,’ it’s still important to remain diligent.

One way you can improve your own life while doing something good for mankind is to find ways to help others.

Celebrities have donated money and supplies to those in need. Business heavyweights like Declan Kelly have put together benefit concerts to raise money for those most impacted by the disease. Even restaurants have given away free meals to kids in need who haven’t been able to go to school for lunch.

But, you don’t need to be rich and famous in order to make a difference. Let’s look at three practical ways you can help others and leave your mark in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

  1. Give Blood

As you might expect, there has been a decline in blood donations since the Coronavirus pandemic first hit. Some people haven’t been able to leave their homes to donate, while others might be scared or intimidated due to these uncertain times.

If you are healthy and able to donate blood, you could be saving lives by doing so. It’s a safe process and there is a constant need for a consistent supply.

  1. Virtual Volunteering

If you’re not ready to get back out into the world just yet, there are plenty of ways you can help out virtually. Some ideas to help out those who need it from the comfort of your own home include:

  • Becoming a mentor/teacher/tutor online
  • Making face masks to ship out to others
  • Provide copy or graphic design work to fundraising organizations
  • Start an online fundraising campaign

Now, more than ever, don’t be afraid to let your creative juices flow! As stated above, we’re all getting used to a new sort of normal. So, thinking outside the box is one of the best ways to help others while keeping yourself safe in the process.

  1. Check In On Your Neighbors

One of the easiest and most effective ways to help others is to check in on the people you care about. That starts with people in your own community. If you have elderly neighbors or immuno-compromised people in your community, don’t be afraid to check in on them frequently.

Give them a call or video chat with them. Ask them what they need. Pick up their groceries or prescriptions for them and leave them on their front doorstep. You can stay socially distanced and safe while still being a good neighbor.

In fact, communities coming together during this difficult time is extremely important. Together, we will see this through. This will continue to become more comfortable again, but there are plenty of people who are still in need. As long as you’re able, do your best to help those people out. You’ll feel better about yourself for doing it, and you can take pride in knowing you’re doing what’s right for your community, and for society as a whole.
