Wheel-y good way to keep fit in your lunchtime

Already given up that New Year resolution of living a healthier lifestyle? It’s not too late to make a difference!

People who are regularly active reduce their risk of dying from infectious diseases such as Covid-19 by 37 per cent, according to recent research.*

Every Wednesday lunchtime Wheels for All Widnes, provides a range inclusive bikes for all ages and abilities.

The first session is free and helmets are provided, from 12noon to 3pm.

Just go along to Victoria Park, Fairfield Road Entrance or email shane.oleary@cycling.org.uk.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “Why not go with a friend or colleague in your lunchbreak? They can jog or walk by your side.”

According to the NHS website, adults should do some type of physical activity every day.

But exercise just once or twice a week can reduce the risk of heart disease or stroke.

Speak to your GP first if you have not exercised for some time, or if you have medical conditions or concerns.

Make sure your activity and its intensity are appropriate for your fitness.
