Bournemouth Borough Council has been rated as the third most improved local authority in a national league table. The “Which Council is Best” study by consultancy firm iMPOWER showed that Bournemouth Borough Council has improved its performance and productivity across a range of services at a faster rate than most councils across the country.
The report has shown which councils are spending their money most effectively and getting the best outcomes for their residents. It analysed 150 local authorities on their productivity per pound spent across a range of services. Bournemouth Borough Council has improved its performance across key services, including:
- Children’s Services
- Older People
- Health & Social Care
- Housing and Homelessness
Bournemouth Borough Council’s highest ranked service was for all age disabilities, where it was placed 14th in the country. This has shown a huge improvement from 2017 ranking at 64th place, demonstrating how effectively the provision has improved the lives of children and adults with learning disabilities.
Councillor John Beesley, Leader of Bournemouth Council said:
“We are delighted with the results of this study as they confirm the continual improvements we are making to our services. The study has focused on productivity – this has shown that we have been able to improve outcomes for all Bournemouth residents. We will use the findings of the report to make further improvements for the wellbeing of our community.”
