Mole Valley District Council launches new pop-up shop in Leatherhead – Latest news from Mole Valley District Council
On 18 March 2022 Mole Valley District Council will launch ‘Pop Up Leatherhead’ – a pilot pop-up shop in the Swan Centre, Leatherhead, allowing entrepreneurs and small businesses to experience ‘high street’ retail in a project delivered by The Pop Up Shops Agents, with funding for the set-up costs from the Welcome Back Fund.
Pop Up Leatherhead will provide the opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs to dip their toe into high street retail by transforming the unit recently vacated by Next and building a pop-up shop community that will also offer 1-2-1 business mentoring, workshops and advice on issues such as business grants and funding.
The Pop Up Shop Agents work to provide affordable opportunities for new traders to showcase products, grow sales and test new products.
The team are currently looking to recruit interested sellers ahead of the 18 March launch date and are working with the Mole Valley Employment & Skills Hub to recruit Store Managers.
Councillor Clayton Wellman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy and Security, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pop-Up Leatherhead to the Swan Centre, thereby supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses as they take their first steps into ‘bricks and mortar’ retail.
“This unique selling opportunity offers fledgling vendors a variety of opportunities from shelf and retail space, through to gallery or workshop areas.”
The Pop Up Shop Agents founder and Principal Agent, Charley Crocker, said: “We have grown and built upon every pop-up store we have created, both within our team and our offering, to develop a community within a store that provides a supportive and safe space for all our sellers, but we have also significantly expanded our offering to include additional services such as business mentoring, workshops, branding, PR, Marketing and social media support.”
