A new play park for the new year
Posted on Tuesday 20th November 2018
Work is underway on the refurbishment of the Littledown Play park, with new equipment being installed to create an exciting play area for young children.
The playpark, designed for children aged three to seven, will include toddler and junior multiplay units, a carousel, see-saw, slides and two different sets of swings. Existing seating will be revamped with new seating rocks and swan seats installed for maximum interactivity. There is a playpark for older children nearby.
The £100,000 refurbishment has been funded by the Council, with a £2,200 contribution from the Local Improvement Fund of Littledown Ward Councillors.
Councillor Robert Lawton, Cabinet Member for Housing and Parks commented “The improvements being made to the Littledown Playpark will continue to make it an exciting place for families with young children to visit. We look forward to this valuable outdoor area being re-opened in the new year.”
The work, which is being carried out by the Council in partnership with operator BH Live, commenced on 5th November and is due to be completed in the New Year.
Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director of Sport and Leisure commented “Littledown Park is a terrific green space for the local community to play, enjoy great events, outdoor sports and be active. It is a much-cherished community asset and we are really excited to see the new play facilities when they open next year.”
The playpark will be closed to the public during this time. For more information about alternative playparks to use while the work is being carried out, please visit our website bournemouth.gov.uk/parks.
