Our Futures Now book begins its tour around Barnsley Libraries
Last year, around 50 individuals from Barnsley Council, partners and local poets came together to tell stories and inspire people to imagine the future of Barnsley – the place of possibilities.
Back in December 2021, following the launch event, we mentioned that the book would go on tour. Well, your wait is now over, and we are now happy to announce that it begins tomorrow.
The book celebrates the stories that come straight from the heart of real people, many of who live in Barnsley and are passionate about our borough. From stories based on the resilience shown during the pandemic to fictional or very personal narratives, each story looks at the future of our borough with ambition and optimism.
Our Futures Now will travel across the borough, allowing everyone to see it and get inspired on the doorstep of their local community. Each month, the hand-made version of the book will be staying at a different library. Here are months of when the book will be staying near where you live:
- March 2022 – Cudworth Library
- April 2022 – Wombwell Library
- May 2022 – Worsbrough Library
- June 2022 – Hoyland Library
- July 2022 – Goldthorpe Library
- August 2022 – Thurnscoe Library
- September 2022 – Darfield Library
- October 2022 – Royston Library
- November 2022 – Penistone Library
If you’re feeling impatient and would like to read it right now, Our Futures Now is available as a digital copy on our website and is free to download. Alternatively, you can listen to an audio version that has been narrated by the book’s authors.
