Night time resurfacing for A40 Gloucester Road
As part of Gloucestershire County Council’s £150m investment into the county’s highways, the A40 Gloucester Road, Cheltenham will be resurfaced overnight from Monday 21 March.

The works will take place between Benhall Roundabout and the Whittington Road junction from 21 – 28 March (excluding Saturday and Sunday nights).
To help minimise disruption, the westbound carriageway (Cheltenham to Gloucester) will be closed overnight between 8pm – 7am. The eastbound carriageway (Gloucester to Cheltenham) will remain open.
An official diversion route, suitable for all vehicles will be signposted.
Your highways crews will complete vital resurfacing works along the 3,450 square metres stretch of road with 406 tonnes of material.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “This scheme highlights our ongoing commitment to keep the county moving. These essential improvements will create a smooth and pothole free journey for all road users.
“The A40 Gloucester Road is a popular route and the resurfacing will have a significant benefit to businesses and the local economy. I would like to reassure residents that we will keep disruption to a minimum and we’d like to thank them for bearing with us.”
