Visit Dorset celebrates English Tourism Week
English Tourism Week kicks off on 18 March and Visit Dorset, Dorset Council’s tourism team, are celebrating everything that our wonderful county has to offer!
The theme for this year’s English Tourism Week is ‘You’re Welcome’ and the team, along with tourism and hospitality businesses across Dorset, have been working hard to welcome visitors back after a challenging 2 years for the whole tourism industry.
Visit Dorset will be promoting the warm welcome awaiting visitors and the range of unique and good quality experiences that are on offer. A new ‘Put a Dorset spring in your step’ tourism campaign will run until May to inspire visitors and local people to choose Dorset for their spring adventures and extend the tourism season.
Visit Dorset has recently launched a fantastic new destination website, which received of 2.77million visits, an all-time annual high for Visit Dorset, helping to support the recovery of tourism.
Two new websites linked to visit-dorset.com are also being launched this year, in partnership with Lyme Regis and Sherborne town councils. The sites will have more detailed visitor information, promoting each of the towns and enticing people to come on holiday.
Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Councillor Tony Ferrari, says,
“As one of the hardest hit sectors during the Covid pandemic, Dorset Council recognises the vital role that tourism plays in boosting our local economy.
“By investing in new digital technology to support this industry, we can promote why Dorset is so special, highlighting our unique natural environment such as the Jurassic Coast and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as our country and coastal towns, and the wide range of things to do whilst staying in Dorset.
“English Tourism Week is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our support to businesses and to promote the wonders of Dorset as a great place to visit.”
