Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee at Meadowbank Park – Latest news from Mole Valley District Council

To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year and kick off the four-day bank holiday weekend in style, Mole Valley District Council will be holding a fun day for the whole family in Meadowbank Park on Thursday 2 June 2022, from 10.30am until 4.30pm.

Councillor Paul Potter, the current vice-Chairman who is proposed to become Chairman for 2022-23, said: “I feel privileged and honoured that this historic occasion for our nation takes place in the year I am due to be in office. A number of exciting plans are underway and I cannot wait for Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) to deliver a spectacular, memorable event the whole family can enjoy.

“A national event of this magnitude deserves the very best celebration, and we are looking forward to delivering that. While the specific details of the day are yet to be confirmed, we wanted to let you know of our plans so you can keep Thursday 2 June 2022 at Meadowbank Park in Dorking free in your diaries. You won’t want to miss the day’s festivities.

“What I can confirm at this stage is that there will be local stalls, food and drink available and lots of exciting activities for all ages to enjoy. We will be desperately hoping for good weather on the day and encouraging visitors to bring a picnic and soak up what will certainly be a fun, festival atmosphere.

“We are looking for enthusiastic bands and performers who would like to be involved on the day at this once-in-a-lifetime celebratory event. We’d love to hear from you. Also, if you are a local business that would like to sponsor the event, do get in touch. Please email platinumjubilee@molevalley.gov.uk.

“If you are planning to celebrate this wonderful occasion for our country in the street that you live or in your local communities by way of a street party and need to close a road, please let us know at least eight weeks beforehand. For more information, please visit our website. Keep an eye out on our Mole Valley Together website’s events section for Jubilee events. You can also upload your own event too.”
