Lord Mayor’s Show to raise funds for Ukraine – Coventry City Council
The Lord Mayor of Coventry is to stage a charity fundraising concert for the people of Ukraine.
The concert will be held at the Albany Theatre on 11 April, and will feature a wide variety of acts from across the city who have come together to raise funds for vital aid and support.
The full line-up is still being finalised, but the show will include the Ukrainian Verkhovjna Male Voice Choir, a group of Ukrainian dancers and performers from the Polish community.
As part of the concert, the Ukrainian national anthem will be played.
Lord Mayor of Coventry, Cllr John McNicholas, said: “We have all been shocked at the callous brutality of the distressing images we have seen on the news of how the Ukrainian people are suffering.
“As a city we have pledged to do all we can to show our support, and this concert will go towards buying vital supplies to help the people of Ukraine in their hour of need.
“Coventry people are always so generous and I would ask that if you can, please buy tickets for the show and help to make a difference. “
The Lord Mayor added: “As well as raising money, the show is a sign of support, with people from various communities across Coventry as the city of peace and reconciliation coming together to stand as one and send out a clear message to the Kremlin that we are there for the Ukrainian people and will do all we can to help them.”
