Meet The Employer event – Coventry City Council

Coventry and Warwickshire businesses in the creative, digital, cultural and tourism sectors have an opportunity to meet potential employees at a new free event next month.

City of Culture Trust, CV Life, Coventry City Council’s Employer Hub, the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, Coventry Building Society and Coombe Abbey Hotel have already signed up to the Meet the Employer event on Tuesday, April 5 at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.

The Cabinet Office is also attending to encourage applications from across the region to a wide range of influential jobs in the UK Civil Service based in the Midlands.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) Growth Hub, the Resume Foundation and event sponsors the Belgrade Theatre have organised the event in partnership with Coventry University, FinditinCW, CW Employment Solutions and Coventry City Council.

The Meet the Employer event is part of the Coventry Creative Growth & Cultural Tourism Recovery Programme, being part-funded by the Government’s UK Community Renewal Fund, through the West Midlands Combined Authority.

A session for Coventry employers will run from 10.30am-12.30pm and will include business networking and presentations from the Resume Foundation, the Cabinet Office and the Belgrade Theatre.

At 1pm, the event opens to Coventry residents and students who are looking for a job or new career opportunity, to meet and speak with up to 40 local employers. The afternoon will include a series of presentations for job seekers about careers in the creative, tourism and digital sectors.

Craig Humphrey, managing director of the CWLEP Growth Hub, said this new event was a perfect opportunity for employers from the creative, digital, cultural and tourism sectors, which have been heavily impacted by the pandemic, to showcase their job opportunities.

“The range of employers who have already committed to attending shows the diverse opportunities that are available in Coventry and Warwickshire,” he said.

“Whether people are looking for a career change or are currently out of work, this is an ideal event to attend and chat to representatives of employers who may become your next boss!”

The employment charity The Resume Foundation, which is co-hosting this event, believes in working with people, employers and other charities to make a bigger difference.

Michael Corrigan, founder of the Resume Foundation, said the morning session would give employers the chance to network with digitally trained candidates and connect with fresh talent to the local jobs market.

He said: “We are thrilled to join with the CWLEP to introduce local employers to our first cohorts of job ready candidates, who’ve just completed their technical training with Coventry University. We believe the impact of this fresh pool of talent will have a positive impact on the businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire as the demand for digital skills continues to grow.”

The Belgrade’s Head of Commercial Income and Operations, Neil Johnson, said: We’re delighted to be sponsoring CW LEP Growth Hub’s venture to help local jobseekers find employment.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our beautiful newly refurbished spaces and our brand-new catering offer as well as to play a vital role in helping the people of Coventry.”

Employers interested in attending the Meet the Employer event are urged to email and jobseekers wishing to come along can book online.
