Find out about getting back into learning at Barnsley’s Adult Skills and Community Learning open day

Adult Skills and Community Learning are hosting an open day for anyone thinking about returning to learning on Wednesday 25 May. Everyone is welcome to come along to level 2 of Wellington House on Market Street from 10am to 4pm.

The open day is a fantastic opportunity to find out what classes are taking place before the summer. Our friendly tutors and advisors will be on hand for a relaxed, informal chat, so you can ask questions about the courses on offer. Come along to tour the facilities and explore opportunities to learn new skills, grow your talents and improve your wellbeing or employability. We have a range of courses available including:

  • English
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)

  • Maths
  • IT and digital skills
  • Employability
  • Creative wellbeing
  • Courses for adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities

  • Health and social care
  • Positive thinking
  • Working with children and families.

Information will also be available on support while you study, such as financial assistance for childcare or travel costs. Course discounts are available in some cases, so make sure to bring proof of benefits or low income to help speed up enrolment.

Kathy McArdle, Service Director for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Lifelong learning helps people to reach their potential and improve their wellbeing. We should all have the best possible chance of enjoying life with good mental health. Being creative is a wonderful way to boost your confidence while learning new skills which can help your career. If you’re interested in getting back into learning, come along to an open day, speak to the team, and find out how you can love to learn.”

There’s no need to book your place, just turn up and find out about all the courses we have to offer. You can find out more by calling (01226) 775270, or emailing Visit our website for more information.
