Join us at Celebratory ‘Platinum Party in the Park’ Community Fun Day – Latest news from Mole Valley District Council

The celebratory fun day Mole Valley District Council has planned at Meadowbank Park on Thursday 2 June is really taking shape. Residents of all ages can look forward to enjoying a wide range of activities and entertainment at the Dorking recreation ground from 10.30am to 4.30pm, in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.

Kicking off June’s four-day bank holiday in style, Mole Valley District Council’s (MVDC) ‘Platinum Party in the Park’ promises to mark this historic occasion in the most special of ways by bringing residents together to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 years on the throne at a fun-filled community event.

Whether you want to dress to impress and take part in the day’s royal-themed fancy dress competition, have your face painted, get some skateboard or scooter coaching, take on the crazy golf course or football drills led by Dorking Wanderers coaches, there will be something on offer for everyone, and all for FREE. Alternatively, if you are after a quieter affair, simply bring along a picnic and enjoy the live music or peruse stalls run by local businesses.

The event is proudly supported and sponsored by Dorking Glass (crazy golf), Dorking Service Centre (skateboard and scooter coaching) and Patrick Gardner (promotional banners). More information about the event and the complete list of activities, stalls and timings on the day can be found by visiting

The current vice-Chairman who is proposed to become Chairman of MVDC for 2022-23, Councillor Paul Potter, said: “Excitement around the Jubilee is really beginning to build, and we are now under a month away. The line-up of things for people to see, do and experience at our community event is looking fantastic, and even more things are looked at being added too. The Jubilee is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and so incredibly special. However you choose to celebrate it, have a wonderful time doing so and enjoy the four-day bank holiday. We hope you choose to be at Meadowbank on the Thursday!”
