A round up of mentions of our students, staff and the University in the media over the past week.

Student and Formula-One fan Dev Tadav looks set for a successful career in the sport after clinching a 10-month, paid work placement with Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. His story was reported by the Chronicle and Echo.

The Chronicle and Echo report the story of one senior nurse and how she is helping improve the wellbeing and working practices of her peers, all thanks to taking a course at UON.

With cases of monkeypox on the rise, Visiting Professor of Nursing Dr Steve O’Brien spoke with BBC Radio Northampton’s Tim Wheeler about what the virus is and what people need to look out for. Listen again here (2hrs 45 mins).

Law lecturers and students joined lawyers for the annual Legal Walk to raise funds for legal advice services across the county, as reported by the Chronicle and Echo and Northants Life.

Senior Lecturer in Journalism Kate Ironside was busy updating media about the ongoing Partygate scandal. She spoke with BBC Radio Northampton’s Tim Wheeler about that and the rest of the week in Westminster (starts at 3hr 17m).) and also with BBC Three Counties Radio’s Jonathan Vernon-Smith (starts 49 minutes 20 seconds).

Later, with more incriminating photos and allegations that Boris Johnson might have lied to parliament, Kate spoke to BBC Radio Leicester. Listen again here (starts 3hrs 15mins).

Professor Tony Kay’s comments about the benefits of eccentric exercise made it into several publications, including the Daily Express and USA Today.

The University hosted a Film and TV Expo as part of the annual Northampton Film Festival, as reported by Northants Live.
