Don’t lose your voice – it’s annual canvass time!
People in North Devon are being urged not to lose their voice on decisions that affect them by making sure their electoral registration details are up-to-date.
North Devon Council’s Electoral Services Team are about to start emailing and writing to households to ask them to check that the information about the people living in the property is correct.
The correspondence asks electors to follow the instructions to ensure that they are registered and ready to vote. Some electors may see an action to respond and are being asked to do so as quickly as possible.
The annual canvass makes sure that the electoral register for North Devon is up to date, helping to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so, as well as removing any people who no longer live at that address.
Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer at North Devon Council, Ken Miles says: “We want to make sure people are aware that these emails and letters are coming and reassure them that they are not scams, but are an important part of the voting system which should not be ignored or deleted.”
“It’s important that residents keep an eye on their email inbox or letterbox, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in North Devon. It only takes five minutes to confirm the details and update them if necessary.”
