Trump Indicted by Facts Support Over January 6

Rep. Adam Schiff (a California Democrat) stated Wednesday that the facts gathered in the House select panel’s investigation of the January 6 Capitol Attack support an indictment by former President Donald Trump.

Schiff, a member, made the comments during an interview. NPR. The committee is set to dissolve at the end of the year and is highly unlikely to be renewed in a Republican-controlled House. Sources indicate that their final report will be available sometime in the month. NBC NewsIt could be released as early as December 21st.

Steve Inskeep, NPR’s Steve Inskeep, asked Schiff if he believed. Trump“Specific prosecutable offenses” committed on January 6.

“Yes, I do,” Schiff said. He referred to a federal judge who ruled in March that Trump had likely  “corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021” — which could amount to felony obstruction.

Schiff stated, “I think that illustration, that example that I gave is just one instance of a particular offense that I believe the facts support a charge against former president.”

He also stated that the Justice Department may still be referred to the committee for possible criminal prosecution.

CNNWednesday’s report also cited unnamed sources and said that the committee was looking into criminal referrals for Trump or his associates. Schiff said that these referrals could include people who refused cooperation in the investigation or for specific crimes committed by Trump on January 6.

The congressman stated that the committee will release all evidence it has collected before Republicans take control of the chamber.

He stated that the Republicans would make their evidence public and that it would be accessible to all, including the Justice Department, so they wouldn’t be able to cherry-pick evidence and mislead America with a false narrative when they take over.
