Elon Musk congratulates Kyrsten Sinema on her decision to leave the Democratic Party

  • Elon Musk thanked Sen. Krysten Silema for leaving the Democratic Party.
  • “I hope more elected leaders act independently …,” Musk” wrote a Twitter user.
  • Sinema stated that she is now an unaffiliated candidate and will no more be considered a Democrat.

Some of her Democratic colleagues are wishing her goodbye, but Sen. Kyrsten Silena has at least one supporter in her decision to officially become an independent. It just so happens that she is the richest person on the planet.

“Good for @SenatorSinema!” Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.“I hope more of our elected officials act independently, aka in people’s interests.”

Sinema told PoliticoFriday’s decision was rooted in the fact she “never really fit in any box of any political party.” Her decision is quite possibly more rooted in fears about a potential primary challenge than any sort of political stand.

Musk, who encouraged his followers vote Republican before the midterms began, has attempted to maintain Twitter’s political neutrality while continuing his own political journey. Musk extolled the virtue of independent votersWho don’t register for a particular political party. However, he didn’t mention the fact that in some states this decision can also restrict the number of races a voter can vote in. Arizona is not among them. those so-called closed or partially closed primary states.

“Hardcore Republicans or Democrats never vote for the opposing side. Independent voters decide who is in charge.” Musk wrote it on Twitter.

The CEO of Telsa and the new owner of Twitter previously stated that he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantisIf the Republican chooses to challenge Trump 2024,

Sinema’s decision on Capitol Hill is unlikely to have any practical impact on the Senate. The former Arizona Democrat was not able to attend party lunches where lawmakers discuss issues. Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Leader, has also stated that Sinema will continue to be assigned to committees and that Democrats will retain their 51-49 majority. Both Sens. Angus King and Bernie Sanders are both independents who co-chair with the Democrats.

Sinema was a significant thorn in the party’s efforts to increase taxes on wealthy Americans, and pass a broad spending plan known as Build back Better. She later voted in favor of the smaller “Inflation Reduction Act.” Sinema, outside of policy, has been a reliable voter for top Biden administration nominations, including Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Some progressives were still happy for her move.

“Bye Felicia 👋🏿,” Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York wrote on Twitter. “This isn’t about the party it’s about your pharma donors!” Stop lying!”

Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman Raquel Terán blasted Sinemaas someone who “has demonstrated she answers to corporations & billionaires, not Arizonans”. The executive board of the state Democratic Party previously censuredSinema opposed changes to the filibuster in order for the party to pass voting rights legislation.
