Lee-J Walker, joint managing director at TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “We are coming out of the pandemic in confident mood and feel this is the right time to grow our footprint outside the North and Midlands.

“We are looking forward to becoming an integral part of the South West business community and share its successes, while working with companies across the region to help them develop new relationships and opportunities.”

TheBusinessDesk.com was established 15 years ago as an online news service for business. It quickly became a trusted member of the business communities it served.

It operates four regions – Yorkshire, North West, West Midlands and East Midlands – attracting more than 300,000 unique visitors a month to its website.

Each region has a successful event calendar that includes awards, conferences and seminars, networking lunches, round table events and other activities to bring its online audience together in person.

Mike Ribbeck, a 20-year veteran of the South West, will be the editor. He also held senior business roles at Insider and the Bristol Post.

Mike Ribbeck will host the North West Business Masters in 2020

Ribbeck was previously a North West editor at TheBusinessDesk.com from 2018-2020. He moved back to South West when the pandemic began.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for both me and TheBusinessDesk.com,” said Ribbeck. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the team in the past and believe we can achieve great things in the region.

“I know from personal experience how vibrant, creative and ambitious the business community is here in the South West. We will be reflecting on this entrepreneurial spirit, which continues to propel the region towards greater success.

TheBusinessDesk.com South West is set to go live in January. Its daily business news service will begin on Monday, January 9.
