Biden Said it was ‘Shockingly Gracious” of Trump to Send Him a Letter: Book

“That was very gracious and generous … Shockingly gracious,” Biden said of the move, per Politico’s excerpt of Whipple’s book.

Robyn Patterson, spokesperson for the White House, stated that the book would be available in a variety of formats.

“We don’t intend to engage in confirmations and denials when referring to the details of those claims. Patterson said that Patterson did not allow Patterson to verify the materials attributed to him.

Insider sent out requests for comment outside of regular business hours to a Trump spokesperson and White House representatives. They did not immediately respond.

Biden first revealedTrump left a note to him in January 2021. This was after Trump. snubbed Biden’s inaugurationHe refused to concede the election and continued to make baseless claims of voter fraud. 

“The president wrote an extremely generous letter,” Biden told reporters on January 20, 2021. “Because it was confidential, I won’t talk about it until he talks to me, but it was generous.”

Trump spoke brieflyInformation about the letter to a March 2021 episode of the podcast “The Truth with Lisa Boothe.”

“Basically, I wished him luck. It was a few pages long and came from the heart. Trump said, “Because I want him to do well.” 

On a February 17 episode of the podcast, “Literally! with Robe Lowe,”Jen Psaki was the White House press secretary at the time and described the moment Biden received Trump’s letter.

Psaki stated that “Before my first briefing, i was in the Oval Office talking with him about the briefing, and any information he wanted me or what I expected.” “And I said, “You know, you’re going to have to answer about the letter that your former president left you.” He said, “Oh, did the former president leave me a note?”

Psaki claimed that Biden had read the letter before her, but that he was a “classy man” and kept the contents to his own. 

Psaki described the letter as “long.” “The script was beautiful from what I could see.”
