In October’s tight runoff election, Jair Bolsonaro was defeated by the incumbent leftist. Bolsonaro refused the formal concession of the election and left the inauguration to go to Orlando, Florida. The New York Times reported.

According to the NYT Bolsonaro flew to Florida on Friday and plans stay there for at least one month while he is subject to investigations arising from his term of president. The Times reported that Bolsonaro is staying in a rented residence owned by a professional mixed martial-arts fighter just miles from Disney World.

According to The Times, instead, a voice announced that Lula Da Silva would accept the sash “from the people of Brazil” and a 33 year-old garbage collector placed it over his shoulder.

According to The Times, Bolsonaro faces five inquiries. One is into his misinformation-laden attacks against Brazil’s voting machines. Another is into his possible connections to “digital militias” which spread misinformation. Bolsonaro is no longer entitled to the prosecutorial immunity that comes with his office as President of Brazil.

The Times also reported that an anonymous source close to the Bolsonaro families said that the former President is waiting in Florida to determine if the Lula da Silva administration is going to push any of these investigations.
