AOC Says GOP Chaos Shows that the Squad is Reasonable in Comparison

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez spoke out about the chaos that continues in the Republican Party.
  • She stated that it showed that the progressive group she is a part of was reasonable in comparison.
  • The GOP failed to elect a House Speaker during three days of voting, paralyzing Congress.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rep., said that chaos in the Republican Party due to the failure of electing a House speaker has shown that the Squad, the progressive Democrats she is a member, is more reasonable.

Ocasio-Cortez (a New York Democrat) was the most prominent member. He was commenting about the dysfunction in GOP after a third-day of voting in which Rep. Kevin McCarthy failed to win the 218 votes required for the position.

“I think, regardless of your political affiliation, this episode shows us, again, how bad faith and… substance-less, the argument and accusation that progressives, are, is just as bad as these insurrectionists Republicans.” Ocasio-Cortez told The Independent.

McCarthy’s candidacy is being opposed by 20 hard-right Republicans who have remained united in their opposition through 11 rounds of voting and three days.

Ocasio Cortez stated that the more days this continues, the more it has a corrosive effect on our country.

The Squad includes representatives Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Jamaal Bowman, New York, Cori Bush, and Ocasio Cortez.

They have clashed regularly with Democratic Party leadership on issues such as the Green New Deal or expanded Medicare provisions.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries is the House Minority leader. In the past, he accused members from the progressive left party of being divisive or out of touch with mainstream politics.

“The extreme left is obsessed by talking trash about mainstream Democrats via Twitter, when the majority electorate are mainstream Democrats at the polls.” Jeffries told CNN in 2021.

Ocasio-Cortez pushed back against criticisms.

“I think” [the current situation]She said that it just highlighted how absurdly bad faith those accusations are of progressive unreasonableness, even if they come from our side.
