Trump’s Ex-Interior Secretary Says Ex President’s Influence Is Waning

Ryan Zinke, Trump’s former Secretary for the Interior, says that Trump is losing his influence over the GOP.
The former president has repeatedly supportedKevin McCarthy’s bid as Republican Speaker of House But, after more than a dozen votes in the HouseMcCarthy’s success has not been affected by Trump’s endorsement.
CNN interview shared online by MediaiteZinke agreed to host Laura Coates’ statement that Trump’s influence “absolutely” is waning.
Zinke suggested that the evidence lies in McCarthy’s inability secure the Speaker title.
Zinke stated to Coates, “He’s behind McCarthy,” on CNN. “And they ignored them.”
On Wednesday, Trump repeated his support of McCarthy, posting on his social media platform Truth Social, “It’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA.”
However, Trump’s passionate appeal failed to convert one Republican vote for McCarthy just hours later, in the 5th round of House voting.
Trump received a single vote from Matt Gaetz on Thursday for the Speaker seat. Zinke said to Coates that the vote was a “castaway” that should not be taken seriously.
