CNN interview shared online by MediaiteZinke agreed to host Laura Coates’ statement that Trump’s influence “absolutely” is waning.

Zinke suggested that the evidence lies in McCarthy’s inability secure the Speaker title.

Zinke stated to Coates, “He’s behind McCarthy,” on CNN. “And they ignored them.”

On Wednesday, Trump repeated his support of McCarthy, posting on his social media platform Truth Social, “It’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA.”

However, Trump’s passionate appeal failed to convert one Republican vote for McCarthy just hours later, in the 5th round of House voting.

Trump received a single vote from Matt Gaetz on Thursday for the Speaker seat. Zinke said to Coates that the vote was a “castaway” that should not be taken seriously.
