Officials Arrest Finance Executive After Saying He Peed on Woman Midflight

Shankar Mishra (ex-vice president of the Indian subsidiary of Wells Fargo) was arrested Saturday following a search by police. He was charged with obscenity and sexual harassment and “insulting a woman’s modesty.”

According to police, the charges relate to an incident that occurred on November 26th when Mishra urinated on another passenger, a 72-year old woman, on an Air India flight from New York. Mishra was arrested on Friday. described by a senior police official as “missing,”India, Karnataka: Police are searching for him. Local news outlet Mirror Now reportedOn Saturday, he was taken into judicial detention and was expected that he would remain there for 14 more days. He had however filed a petition to be released.

Air India has reexamined its policy regarding alcohol consumption in response to the incident. Mirror Now reported. Insider asked for comment from representatives of the airline, but they did not respond immediately. 

Wells Fargo confirmed on Friday that Mishra had been fired. The statement from the international banking giant called the incident “deeply troubling.”
