Virtual Choir makes desperate plea to Chancellor for parity on support schemes to help rebuild the economy

A powerful 4 minute video of over 100 people singing a parody of, ‘One Day More’ (from Les Miserables) has been released this week by members of ExcludedUK’s Facebook community group.

The arrangement is the work of Kate Cameron and Melody Schroeder, both members of the ExcludedUK community, a non-profit organisation set up to represent the estimated 3 million people who have been excluded from any meaningful financial support from the government throughout the Covid-19 crisis.

Kate, who is a music and singing teacher based in Glasgow, and Melody, an actress and scriptwriter from London, have never met in person, but have been working closely over the summer, putting together the choir, which consists of over 100 other members of the ExcludedUK community, with ages ranging from 18 to 70, some who have never sung publicly before.

Kate worked on the musical arrangement and Melody re-wrote the lyrics to ‘One Day More’, from the hit stage musical, Les Miserables, focusing on the themes of power, dreams and the fighting spirit of the people. The video was brought to life with the help of other ExcludedUK members, David Lawrence (Musical Director), Steve Woods (Video Editor), Tom Smith and Ross Cameron (Sound Engineers),

The arts have been particularly badly hit by the pandemic, with many performers – singers, musicians, dancers, actors, as well as curators, producers and technicians struggling financially after seeing their work literally dry up overnight.

Kate said, “The ExcludedUK community has been a saviour to me and putting this song and video together has given me a focus and a reason to get up in the morning. It’s been an amazing experience.”

Melody agrees with Kate, “I was really struggling with my mental health too, and I am so grateful that I met Kate through the Facebook group and I’m so inspired by all the amazing people in the ExcludedUK choir and proud of what we have created.”

It is hoped that this video and message in the song will further highlight the plight of the 3 million UK taxpayers who have been excluded from government support during the coronavirus crisis.

Notes to Editors:
ExcludedUK is a volunteer-run grassroots non-profit organisation committed to working towards bringing an end to the exclusions in the Government’s Covid-19 financial support measures affecting 3 million individuals and businesses excluded through no fault of their own.

About ExcludedUK:

ExcludedUK is a newly formed non-profit NGO and serves as a collective platform for those entirely or largely excluded from the UK Government’s Covid-19 financial support measures. We are a rapidly growing organisation and an inclusive community, representing a broad spectrum of individuals and businesses, but all sharing one common thread: we are excluded.

As an organisation we will play a crucial role in facilitating support and assistance on multiple levels, both for now and into the future. Our aim is to build a stronger platform, raise awareness, lobby for support, raise funds for legal challenges and help enable the changes that are needed for those excluded. Most importantly, our hope is that our efforts can help propel affected individuals and businesses forward in the face of adversity resulting from Covid-19 and being excluded from Government support, while equally ensuring we are all able to help each other emerge from this crisis.

Time Will Tell, A Father’s Day Single by the Songwriter Alon, Will Be Released This Friday June 19th

Alon will release the unpublished radio edition of Time Will Tell this Friday June 19th. This song, a tribute to Father’s Day, explores the challenges and fears of becoming a father. Time Will Tell will be released by Great Egg Music and made available on Spotify, Apple Music and many other streaming services.

Mixed by Grammy-Nominated engineer, David Ivory, Alon with his customized sonic rig “The Alonomorphic Control Station” creates a tapestry of sounds including 6 and 12-string acoustic guitars, the legendary Mellotron, EBows and special effects.

According to Mr. Otter Music, Time Will Tell has a “really amazing melody and great vocals!” Indiesound said, “I dig the psychedelic vibes and arrangement.”

Alon, aka Marc A. Gallo, reflects on the song’s inspiration. “Fatherhood was a life changing event. When I was single, I had the luxury of focusing on myself. But when my children arrived, I suddenly had to rearrange my priorities and face the challenges.”

Time Will Tell was originally released by Alon on the EP “The Artist Manifesto: Document 1” on Great Egg Music in 2005. The radio edition of Time Will Tell has never been released.

Alon began as a singer-songwriter in 2001 and has evolved into an eclectic musical artist. He invented his customized sonic rig, The Alonomorphic Control Station, and produced two other EPs, Persian Butterfly and Alon (Self-Titled). He’s appeared in Performing Songwriter and Progression magazines and has been featured on the Gagliarchives Progressive Rock Radio Show.

Upcoming releases include Persian Butterfly (Remastered) on Friday July 31st and stories about the artist behind the music on Alon’s YouTube channel.

“An Apple A Day” while locked away

Entertainers worldwide pass an apple from screen to screen fulfilling perhaps the modern version of an “apple a day will keep the doctors away!”

After being been stripped of gigs and thrown into both isolation, and unemployment; musicians, magicians, acrobats and circus performers have joined forces and continue to create smiles on the faces of millions with this video

James Bustar, a Sydney-based (UK born) juggler, began the virtual project as a way to bring people throughout the arts community together. Connecting over 100 performers from over 7 countries in just under two weeks, he says he hopes to, not only band together, but also “raise money and awareness for the arts” community.

While often the entertainment industry steps up in times of crisis, such as the recent bush-fire relief efforts, its’ members are now high on the list of those struggling the most. With the industry registering $325 million (and counting) on the website, Bustar hopes funds raised from the project will be donated to The Support Act. A charity seeking to support artists by providing a free, confidential counselling service.

The project highlights the entertainment industry’s resilience, strength of character and endearing willingness to make us all smile even amidst a global health pandemic.

BAG Will Release Easter Day, Recorded Live At CBGB In NYC On Friday April 10th

DREXEL HILL, PA: BAG, the zany, vaudevillian rock group from the 80’s, will release their demented holiday song, Easter Day, on Friday April 10, 2020. It’s a live recording from their 1990 performance at the legendary club, CBGB, in New York City.

Lead singer and performer Marc A. Gallo, along with members Patrick Callen on bass and Scott Grande on drums and percussion, tells the tale of the harrowing discovery as a child that the myth of the elusive Easter egg was just that, a myth.

Easter Day is perhaps one of BAG’s most iconic songs and performances. Gallo, wearing an elaborate Easter egg helmet, theatrically immerses himself in this satirical tale as if it happened yesterday. The dramatic yet sad scene of him confronting his Mother about this myth is particularly comical.

Gallo confides, “Look, as a young boy, abandoning the quest for the elusive Easter egg was quite devastating, especially when my Mother told me to stop. And as you can see, I’m still not over it.”

BAG, founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1985, incorporated costumes, props, video and satire into their live musical performances. They performed at popular venues like The Painted Bride and Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia, plus CBGB and Kenny’s Castaway in New York City. The Philly Inquirer featured BAG numerous times during the 1980s.

In 1989, BAG produced their EP titled “Happy Family”, published by Great Egg Music. It featured an eight-piece band including a horn section. It’s available at Bandcamp.

BAG can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music and other music streaming services. Easter Day (Live) was mastered in January 2020 and will be available for purchase on iTunes/Apple Music, effective Friday April 10, 2020.
