• 750 souvenir rulers sold by inventive 11-year old as part of the Irish Primary Schools Junior Entrepreneur Programme
• Children set up ‘production line’ to insert pictures of Irish Presidents into blank rulers
• Ruler presented to Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar in Dublin
Blank promotional merchandise supplier Blank Keyrings were approached by the mother of an 11-year old schoolboy from County Limerick to help with his school’s Junior Entrepreneur Programme. This programme gives primary school children the opportunity to experience practical, real-life business learning as part of their education.
Preston-based Blank Keyrings were asked to provide the 12” blank acrylic rulers and director Ann Ward sent Eric special templates from which a family friend designed the ruler insert. Eric was also given assembly instructions so he could start his own production line, inserting pictures of the Irish presidents into the blank rulers.
Nancy White (schoolboy Eric’s mother) said:
“The rulers have been a great success. I must personally thank Ann at BlankKeyrings.co.uk who has been so helpful, professional and encouraging. The students have had a journey filled with valuable learning experiences, with all their efforts being marked by winning an award at the Junior Entrepreneur Showcase.”
Eric’s entrepreneurial achievements were recognised when he won his school’s programme, sending him through to the regional finals. He went, with members of his team, to Dublin where he met the Prime Minister, (Taoiseach) Leo Varadkar and presented him with the JEP Irish Presidents Ruler. Nancy and her son Eric have also been interviewed on local radio Limerick Today.
