BERKELEY, CA — In response to the Black Lives Matter movement, MUSA, a digital platform connecting artists and venues, asked emerging artists based in the Bay Area to create individual letters for a collaborative poster that spells out “Black Lives Matter.” The poster stands for the collective responsibility to protect the lives, rights and voices of historically marginalized groups. “We stand in unity with the Black community and push for the end of a systemic racism and classism structure,” said MUSA founder Lucas Tepman.
When asked why she’d participated in this collaboration, artist Amadi Greenstein (Instagram @amadiroseee), stated that, “As a Black artist, this project stands as a meaningful form of personal expression. My intention was to design a visual art piece that simply signifies my experiences and inspirations I’ve carried throughout my childhood, while also stating as an expression of my thoughts and feelings of frustration, disappointment and anger that’s developed towards this current movement.”
The posters will be distributed for free to local businesses from the Bay Area Organization of Black Owned Businesses (BAOBOB) directory. BAOBOB is a membership organization committed to connecting, promoting, informing and representing black-owned/lead businesses and nonprofits throughout the United States. Businesses that have already agreed to display the poster include: Oeste Oakland, Anasa Oakland, Bissap Baobab, Oakstop, Ala Mar, Everett & Jones BBQ, Miss Ollie’, The Black Woman Is God, Mandela Grocery Cooperative, Bikes 4 Life, Strategy Squad, and Rich City Rides. Businesses that would like to receive a poster should reach out to MUSA directly.
The BLM poster, alongside individual posters created by the artists, are now on sale via the MUSA website. The 12×18 inch posters sell for $20, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce: https://oaacc.org/resiliency-fund/.
It is the hope of the collaborators that these posters will remain on the walls of homes and shops, reminding us all why we are taking a stand, be that through protests, donations, education initiatives, etc., and why we must continue to speak out in support of racial equality.
About MUSA: MUSA is a digital platform connecting local emerging artists with community spaces. Through MUSA, neighborhood venues are transformed into art spaces that the local community can rediscover, reshaped by the art around them. It is the first platform where venues are able to search for and choose the type of art and event that they want to create. In addition to its matching tools, MUSA handles all of the business details of the arrangement, including the payment system, art-hanging solutions, insurance, contracts, and promotion.

CRFS, a global leader in RF spectrum monitoring, management, and geolocation solutions, has launched a new series of webinars to support and educate those working in the electronic warfare and spectrum monitoring community.
Many people have been unable to attend the usual conferences and seminars this year due to the international reaction to Covid-19. As such, CRFS embarked on a campaign to keep these critical conversations going, inform audiences and further enlighten traditional defense and security users to the increasing capability that RF detection, geolocation and management delivers.
After the success of the CRFS Spring webinars which began in March, the Summer Series focuses on key topics such as Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), military spectrum management and counter drone technologies. Many of the topics will be supported by additional industry leading companies and experts, allowing a deep dive into the topics from varied perspectives. Uncovering new ways to derive value from RF intelligence will help attendees connect previously disparate elements of information to deliver a more complete intelligence picture.
“These webinars are a fantastic way to engage with our customers and the wider community,” commented James Shepperd, VP Marketing at CRFS. “While many people are at home, there is a real appetite for them to broaden their understanding of the RF domain and uncover new ways to derive value from RF data. That’s equally true for military, security or regulatory organizations”
The first ‘Summer Series’ webinar will be on the 9th of July and will cover I/Q Signal Intelligence – COMINT Capture, Decode and Demodulate, it will be supported by an expert from Decodio (specialists in digital signal processing and signal intelligence).
Registration for this webinar and the other upcoming webinars is now open at www.crfs.com/events

Event to Mark Khalifa’s First-Ever Gaming Live Stream
JULY 11 “WIZ AND FRIENDS CHARITY LIVESTREAM” TO BENEFIT RISE ABOVE THE DISORDER
Funds Raised to Support People of Color in Need of Mental Health Care
PITTSBURGH / ATLANTA — Global esports team, the Pittsburgh Knights, and charity fundraising platform, Softgiving, have announced a partnership to create live-streamed charity events together. The first event, the Wiz and Friends Charity Livestream, will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2020, and will be hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Wiz Khalifa in his first-ever gaming live stream. Wiz is a strategic partner for the Knights and will be the featured personality at the center of these new philanthropic initiatives by the team. Additional charity stream events for 2020 will be announced.
In addition to Wiz, Twitch streamer Austin (formerly “RajjPatel”) will be featured at the event. Additional talent will be announced.
The July 11 event will benefit Rise Above the Disorder (RAD), which provides a universal mental healthcare system accessible to youth all over the world. Since 2017, RAD has covered the cost of mental health care for more than 35,000 people across 132 countries. All funds raised will support people of color in need of mental health care.
People of color in the U.S. experience a significant degree of marginalization and discrimination, which is a top risk factor for poor mental outcomes. As in health care, mental health care disparities associated with access and lack of insurance are substantial.
“In light of this extraordinary time when the Covid-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests have swept across the U.S. (and the world), we believe it is an especially important time to support thosewho are suffering and in need of mental health care,” said Knights president James O’Connor. “This charity live stream is a direct way to help those who do not have easy access to the care they need and deserve.”
The live-streamed event will feature guests including music artists, professional athletes and gaming influencers, as well as members of Khalifa’s artist collective, Taylor Gang. For a chance to play with Wiz during the livestream, fans can donate now at wizandfriends.com. Two winners will be chosen.
A Forbes-profiled entrepreneur, Wiz Khalifa is recognized for his business acumen, creative excellence, and charitable efforts. He has had his finger on the pulse of the video-gaming scene for several years, including the launch of his own top-rated mobile game in 2017.
Khalifa has said: “Nowadays artists are breaking music as well as premiering on different platforms like Twitch. I have always tried to be at the forefront of technology and I think this is another amazing moment in history. I am happy to be a part of it.”
O’Connor added: “We’re looking forward to using both our platform and our network to bring attention to worthy causes. We believe that esports is a wonderful way to bring people together and promote community, especially during such an unprecedented and isolating time. Softgiving is an amazing resource for us to bring everything and everyone together in order to make this all happen.”
Softgiving, an Atlanta-based fintech company, creates innovative and convenient fundraising solutions for nonprofits and is the first charity streaming platform to have a 0% platform fee. Their technology provides all of the tools and resources necessary to produce online charity events, such as custom landing pages, live support, streamer tech, and prize giveaways. Softgiving will also be instrumental in matching complementary nonprofits to the Knights and their associates.
“This partnership with the Knights is truly an amazing opportunity to help bring attention to the needs of so many charities all around the country … especially at a time like this when they may need support more than ever,” said Softgiving CEO Matt Pfaltzgraf. “Gaming brings communities together, so we are pleased to be a part of the efforts the Knights are making to impact people in a positive manner by supporting Rise Above the Disorder.”
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Knights, Softgiving and Wiz to put on an event that will completely change the way we talk about mental health,” said Rise Above the Disorder CEO Jason Docton. “Now, perhaps more than ever, mental health care is so greatly needed. Through this event we’ll be able to raise the critical resources needed to provide free mental health care to people around the world.”
Softgiving and the Knights have developed integration opportunities for brands to sponsor the charity streams. Brand and donation partners for the July 11 charity stream will include Schell Games, MetroStar Systems, DREAM Clothing, and NFL Alumni Association.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA. November 16, 2019: Hemideina, a hearing solutions company focussed on the development and commercialisation of the Hera Wireless Implant, announced today that it successfully raised a Series A investment of $4 million in their second round of equity financing.
The capital raising follows the company’s success in validating its core mechanical signal processing technology. Achieving several significant technical milestones convinced investors that Hemideina was on track with their development and commercialisation strategy.
This financing will enable Hemideina to invest in its development program to advance the Hera Wireless Implant towards pre-clinical testing, extend the company’s IP portfolio and expand the expert team who will lead the company’s commercialisation activity.
Dr. Elizabeth Williams, CEO of Hemideina said: “We are incredibly appreciative of the overwhelming response to our Series A round from both existing and new investors. The local investment community has demonstrated a strong understanding of our proposition, and its inherent value. We have made substantial progress this year and we are moving closer to realising our clinical and commercial objectives.”
Andrew Maxwell, Chairman of Hemideina, said: “This pioneering, life-changing technology with global relevance is an incredible alternative for the hearing impaired. Our solution will provide an option for families in the well-established and reimbursed market that includes children under the age of 18, and also the substantial emerging seniors market. It is a powerful story and investors can see its health benefits and economic promise. The recent level of interest from the global hearing implant clinical community and support from investors will play a crucial role in helping realise the full potential of this technology and market opportunity.”
The Company’s capital raise was managed by Henslow, an independent advisory firm that supports growing companies and their stakeholders through every phase of the business’s evolutionary life cycle.
Founded in 2017 by scientists, Drs. Kate Lomas and Elizabeth Williams, with a mission to revolutionise hearing for the profoundly deaf, Hemideina takes inspiration from biological systems to deliver solutions in human hearing. Hemideina’s Hera Wireless Implant is based on the company’s proprietary signal processing technology and is set to disrupt the hearing implant market currently worth $1.8bn.
Hays, the leading recruiting experts and global super connectors Empact Ventures are set to expand their support to tech start-ups and scale-ups in a series of 12 unique events across the UK and Ireland.
The Super Connect Series brings together the best emerging tech start-ups and scale-ups with decision-makers at corporates, brands, SMEs, non-profits, investors, grant bodies and funding providers to explore collaboration and funding support based on mutual need.
The events will be run as part of a regional roadshow in 12 cities and towns across the UK and Ireland from October 2019 to June 2020 following a successful pilot in five areas including Bournemouth, Bristol, London, Cambridge and Leeds.
Each local event combines a series of tech talks with a range of innovative pitches from tech start-ups and scale-ups all powered by a unique match-making process to connect people based on mutual need during and after the day through its team of Super Connectors. The event themes include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), FinTech, Cyber Security, MedTech, RetailTech and Fibre Network / 5G, AR/VR amongst others.
The Super Connect Series exists to address the challenge people face when attending events in identifying the right people to meet and understanding if they are potentially interested in their organisation, project or venture. More so, it is focused on supporting smaller companies to be given the opportunity to work with larger ones and access a wider range of funding sources at a local to national level.
Kosta Mavroulakis, Founder and CEO of Empact Ventures said: “While tech start-ups and scale-ups have access to an abundance of investment opportunities in the UK, they still face the challenge of securing new business development and a blended range of funding opportunities. For larger organisations and funding providers they often face the challenge of meeting many smaller tech companies before they find the gems that fit their sweet spot for the purposes of their innovation sourcing, business development and/or funding purposes.
In both cases, our goal is to bring people together to explore collaboration in a mutually beneficial manner that creates aggregate economic and/or social impact. Empact Ventures and Hays UK & I are both super connectors of technology and people respectively who are committed to supporting the growth of small to large organisations, and it is for this reason why we co-designed the Super Connect Series”.
James Milligan, Director of Hays Digital Technology, commented: “We are confident that by working in partnership with Empact Ventures on the new Super Connect series, the initiative will encourage professionals with a passion for technology, to better engage, connect and collaborate with others within the industry. The events are a unique opportunity for start-ups and scale-ups to access businesses and decision makers who can help them take their start-up to the next level.
Our Digital Technology business across the UK is now engaging more with smaller tech companies than it ever has before. Providing quality insight and advice to organisations of all sizes on skills, recruitment trends and workforce planning within the technology industry is a priority for us and our research and reports, like the Hays UK Salary and Recruiting Trends 2019 Guide aid in supporting our expertise.”
The pilot and upcoming events are sponsored locally by corporates and brands (e.g. Microsoft, Barclays Eagle Labs, City Fibre, Dee Set Logistics), SMEs (e.g. Future Kings, Linkilaw), non-profit organisations (e.g. The National Institute for Health Research Surgical MedTech Co-operative and UnLtd), and key ecosystem builders (e.g. Dorset LEP, Enterprise M3, NDRC, TechSolent).
