HealthUnlocked appoints Joe McFadden as Chief Technical Officer

Joe McFadden Chief Technical Officer, the world’s largest social network for health, announced the appointment of Joe McFadden in the newly created position of Chief Technical Officer.

McFadden, a strategically focused IT leader with 20 years of experience across multiple sectors, has a proven track record in strategy development, digital transformation, enterprise architecture and organisational change. He will be instrumental in leading the technical vision of the company.

Joe’s experience spans the creative industries, media and charity sectors and joins HealthUnlocked from the Royal Opera House, where he led the delivery of a major digital transformation to reach new audiences, improve the venue experience and drive increased income.

“I’m thrilled to join HealthUnlocked and be part of its mission to empower patients and improve global health,” said McFadden. “I’m particularly excited by the potential to scale and enhance HealthUnlocked’s unique HealthGraph Machine Learning Platform, so we can better understand people’s health needs, and grow our communities by providing ever more personalised health information.”

The appointment of CTO follows a series of important new hires in the last few months that will help drive the company forward and maintain its position as the digital disruptor in healthcare. Last month, the company also hired ex-PatientsLikeMe Innovation Director, Paul Wicks, PhD. to join HealthUnlocked as Chief Scientific Officer. They will be instrumental in developing and implementing a series of new initiatives and partnerships both in the US and the UK.
These key appointments are a direct reflection of the company’s growth as the demand for patient-empowered and personalised healthcare increases.

Launched in January 2019 is a social networking microblogging service that allows you to answer the question, “What is your status?” by sending short text messages 140 characters in length, called “status updates”, to your friends, or “followers.” is the brain-child of project director, (hobbyist designer and blogger) and grateful dad, Dean Jones. Jones grew up in London, Islington, and attended St Martins College of Art and Design in 1996. He left in late 2001 and became a Design Lecturer and then eventually a Project Manager and from 2017 to 2018 led on the setup and delivery of a major change programme for the House of Commons and House of Lords, (UK Parliament).

Jones said, “ was inspired by my kids and is not an alternative silo: instead, it’s what you build when you believe that the web itself is the great social network.”

Status updates are displayed on your profile page, on the home page of each follower, and in the public timeline.

With a creative design and built with a mobile-first approach, it’s a great way to keep in touch with your friends and quickly broadcast information about where you are and what you’re up to.

Status updates are restricted to 140 characters and users can upload photos, videos and music up-to 50MB in size and embed a variety of other media.

Jones, plans include expansion of the service to include multiple network offerings enabling microbloggers to interact with other communities.
