And so, Mark Allen, 60, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) on Saturday (22 June 2019) at the CIMA MiP Conference 2019 at Woodland Grange.

The honour is much deserved.

Mark, co-founder of the TAG Accountants Community, was recognised by his fellow MiP, for his voluntary work with the Institute, Members in Practice, and he is also credited with transforming the CIMA Members in Practice Panel into a greatly valued arm of CIMA and of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants AICPA.

Tina Jenkins of ADV Accountancy, who is a fellow MiP, said “Mark so deserved this award; he has done a lot for us MIPS. I am truly grateful for all he has done”.

Jane Capel of JC Accounting Solutions, another MIP member said, “Mark’s guidance and encouragement has always, and continues to, supported my journey as a MIP”.

Mark, a serial entrepreneur for much of his career, has focused most of his professional business life around helping accountants and their clients build their businesses.

David Logan, CTA, Marks co-founder of TAG said “A thoroughly deserved award for Mark who has been an inspiration to work with. His role and expertise in building the TAG community has been truly exceptional”.

Since being founded in March 2016, TAG, under Mark’s and David’s guidance, has grown at an astonishing pace. It is now a community of accountants and professional advisors whose turnover exceeds £135M hosts expert teams in tax, financial advisory, legal services, insolvency, business development and technology that is tailored to provide a bespoke service to members and their clients; and continues to grow year on year adding new services in the rapidly evolving world of business.

Even more impressive is that since 2017 this has all been achieved whilst Mark battled a life-threatening illness and endured life changing surgery.

Mark states that success in life is about building a brilliant team with an unselfish attitude, but with an absolute will to be the best they can.

David Logan added “working with Mark is inspirational, we set out with the purpose of creating a community that would nurture and support members, and TAG has grown and continues to do so. The future is incredibly exciting, and this is in large part down to Marks enthusiasm and vision.”
