Covid-19 emergency in the US: over 10 billion dollars lost in a few months and over 700,000 jobs at risk in the fitness sector according to an IFO International Fitness Observatory survey. 1

  • It is estimated that in the US, due to the Coronavirus health emergency, the economic loss of the fitness sector will amount to over 10 billion dollars by the end of the summer. With over 700,000 thousand jobs at risk, according to the data that emerged from the research of IFO (International Fitness Observatory), this sector calls for real structural interventions. Over 40% of clubs believe they will no longer have the resources to survive the crisis for over 3 months.

August 18, 2020: The fitness and sports industry is an important reality in the US economy.

IFO – International Fitness Observatory, in collaboration with Egeria, carried out a research coordinated by Dr. Paolo Menconi, President of the Observatory, involving over 7,400 clubs in the USA.

A leader in the sector internationally, in 2019 the fitness sector in the USA was constantly growing with about 64 million club members and with total revenues of about 35 billion dollars. This is a market has now entered its most dramatic moment.

Many clubs have sold short-term memberships and only 49% of clubs have more than half of the customers with an annual membership, sign of a financially fragile market.

Covid-19 crisis is having a strong impact on the fitness sector and the numbers provided by the clubs from the beginning of the crisis until late summer show the estimate of the loss to easily exceed 10 billion of dollars, with over 700,000 thousand jobs at risk.

Paolo Menconi, President of IFO, says: “The results of this research indicate that the fitness industry is in a very difficult and unprecedented time. We should not forget this is a sector that has a fundamental social role for the psycho-physical well-being of people and it is able to offer good deals for any budget. It should be protected with serious and concrete structural actions, both for employees and for customers, making it able to get back on its feet and continue to look ahead to the future.”

Over 70% of clubs believe that the measures taken so far by the Institutions are not sufficient to support the sector. They suggest the following Non-refundable/non-repayable economic loans for the sector (66.15%); Suspensions for a defined time necessary for tax duties and bills for the supply of electricity, gas and water (59.59%);

If the situation is difficult for everyone but the economic ability to withstand the crisis is different: 35% do not know how long they will be able to survive, 21% claim to have autonomy for 2 months. 40% of clubs may not make it in 3 months. In the fourth month of stop, the risk is that over 45% of the clubs won’t survive. Only 20% of clubs say they have the financial resources to last for five months.

Orangetheory Fitness put Member Support at the Forefront of Re-Opening Plans

[ad_1]

OTF are re-opening with complimentary General Health Assessments for all.

• Complimentary Health Consultations, including body composition scans
• OTF plan to welcome people back to not only the, ‘Best 1-hour Group workout in the country” but also the, “Cleanest 1-hour Group workout in the country”

Last week, gyms and fitness studios throughout the country were dealt a disappointing blow when the government announced that they were not on the list of industries that would be reopening at the beginning of July. However, Orangetheory Fitness Midlands & Northern England have taken steps to turn this small setback into a brilliant opportunity to reach out to their members by offering complimentary Health Assessments and Coach Consultations. Therefore, the Altrincham & Derby studios intends to open their doors from Monday 6th July to help support their members as they prepare to return to the studio, their regular fitness routines and back on track with their personal goals.

“One of the key tenets of Orangetheory is the importance of community within the Orangetheory family” says Jason Zavasnik, Franchise Director, “which is why part of our plan for member re-engagement includes a complimentary General Health Assessment for all of our members, putting member health and wellbeing at the forefront of our re-opening plans.”

So, what will this mean for the company and its core membership base?

One of the key aspects to Orangetheory’s plans is to enable members to get a look inside of the studio with all its COVID-19 precautions in place. This will not only help members become acquainted with the new systems that have been put into place but also help alleviate any safety concerns that members may have, with staff on-hand to answers any potential questions.

As a company, Orangetheory has always emphasised the importance of cleanliness and an organised studio, but the latest precautions will help to ensure that it is not only the ‘Best 1-Hour Group Workout in the Country’, but that it is also the cleanest. The Altrincham & Derby studios have undergone a full deep clean, and staff will be undergoing full training on the new cleaning and safety procedures prior to the re-opening. These procedures will include shorter class times to allow for additional cleaning protocols, minimised shared spaces, socially distanced stations, and an even greater focus on cleaning and sanitising equipment throughout their classes.

Orangetheory is built on its great relationship with members, and these procedures aim to put member health and comfort at the forefront of their re-opening process.

The opening of Orangetheory will be primarily focused on providing members with Health Consultations with their coaching team. These consultations will include a review of the current activity levels of members and their existing lockdown exercise program, alongside blood pressure tests and body composition scans (in partnership with Boditrax), all of which will be used to provide members with advice on how to get back into their workout regime prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

These 1-2-1 personal consultations with the coaches in the studio will be used as a ‘Body MOT’ to help support a healthy lifestyle for their members, help with a goals reset, and to help them take the first few steps back into the studio in preparation for tackling their first in-studio class.

Whilst Orangetheory and other members of the fitness industry may not have an official date for reopening, it is clear that that Orangetheory Fitness are doing all that they can to help their members navigate the new fitness landscape post-COVID and to support their return to the studio when the time comes.

Introducing Artifit, the AI Personal Trainer that makes home fitness highly effective

[ad_1]

New fitness training app with Artificial Intelligence can monitor your movements, provide feedback and give motivation just like a real personal trainer.

LONDON, UK; 28 April 2020 – Staying fit at home has become a priority for many people while confined in quarantine. While some people find exercising regularly at home a breeze, others crave the professional guidance of a personal trainer – and now accessing a personal trainer is as easy as turning on your smartphone.

AI Personal Trainer LTD has just launched the first version of an AI-enabled application called Artifit which turns your smartphone into a personal trainer that can monitor the accuracy and pace of your exercises, provide feedback and even motivation!

“Our aim is to make personal fitness training available for everyone, anywhere anytime thereby helping the world to be more active and healthy,” says Alexander Khludenev, CEO of AI Personal Trainer LTD, “We felt now was the ideal time to launch with so many people confined at home due to Covid-19 measures and struggling to stay fit. Without access to a personal trainer, home workouts can be less effective – often with a lack of individual programs, technique control, instructions or motivational assistance. Artifit uses computer vision and a neural network trained model to recognise your movements and identify any common mistakes in your exercises.”

Just like a real personal trainer, Artifit can instruct by voice and visual prompts on the smartphone screen providing guidance on how to improve and achieve your fitness goals quicker and more safely. It can count your repetitions, automatically set a stopwatch, control your resting time between sets, and encourage you to reach your targeted reps.

To start your session with Artifit, all you need to do is open the app and put your smartphone in front of you so that you see yourself on the front camera. The app will immediately start to interact with you by voice and visual prompts, letting you know what to do. Artifit doesn’t record and send your video to servers but operates locally, on your smartphone, with the help of the pre-trained neural network model.

“Together with fitness experts, our team have gathered a vast dataset of workout videos and trained a neural network to understand how exercises should look and to identify typical errors in movement. We plan to develop further models and to increase the accuracy of the measurements, including more points of the human body to control,” Alexander says.

Once your Artifit workout is complete, the app provides you with a score evaluating how well you performed the exercises and a report of any errors. You can then analyse information and try to improve in your next session. This content can also be sent to a real- life personal trainer for review or can be shared with your friends on social networks.

The Artifit fitness programme currently includes a range of squat exercises, but AI Personal Trainer Ltd  is working to deliver more workouts including planks, lunges and push-ups within the month, with the goal of developing a range of bodyweight exercises ideal for home workout use.

In time, AI Personal Trainer plans to offer a personalized AI-enabled workout program developed based on your targets, personal characteristics and results of an in-built camera-based fitness test.

Unique chance to become part of UK’s largest fitness network

[ad_1]

https://www.prfire.com/Hussle has unveiled its new crowdfunding push, with the opportunity to own part of the platform for as little as £10

We all know that eating well and keeping fit is vital to our well-being, but it’s not always easy to make positive choices. Every year thousands of people sign up to new gym memberships which they only use for a couple of weeks, often because being restricted to one venue doesn’t work for urban lifestyles. That’s all changing, thanks to Hussle.

The London based company is disrupting the fitness industry by making gym memberships easier and more flexible. Instead of just signing up to one venue, members can access pools, spa and gyms all around the UK, with daily or monthly passes that can be easily paused and re-started.

In the past six months alone Hussle has struck deals with big names including Three, Tesco and Premier Inn and scored an impressive list of investors such as Channel 4, Concentric, Techogym, MMC and Albion VC. Hussle’s Corporate Fitness Program is launching in November, offering plenty of incentives for businesses and their employees to be their best version of themselves.

This is a great time to invest, as the company is undergoing a rapid expansion. Each month sees more than 10,000 new members discover Hussle, and the brand has already generated approximately 2.5m gym visits, while partnering with almost 40% of all the health clubs and gym facilities in the United Kingdom.

“Our mission is to create a globally trusted fitness brand that helps people make life work out,” says Hussle CEO, Jamie Ward.

For investors who relate to this ethos, becoming part of the Hussle family is quick and simple – providing them with the opportunity to join in with the brand’s success.

Based on the level of interest shown so far, the funding target is likely to be hit within a few days of the campaign going live. To make sure you are one of the first to know when you can invest, register your interest now at https://www.hussle.com/crowdfunding
