Galaxy Z Flip 8 cases are already flooding the market, and for good reason: Samsung’s new foldable launched on 7 August 2026 with a slimmer, lighter build that demands fresh protection from the ground up. Cases designed for earlier Flip models simply will not fit.

Samsung announced the phone at its GSMArena-listed Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July 2026, positioning the Flip 8 as the successor to the Flip 7. The change in dimensions is meaningful for anyone with a drawer full of old cases.

Why Your Old Cases Won’t Work on the Flip 8

According to PhoneArena, the Flip 8 weighs 180 g and measures 6.1 mm thick when unfolded and 13.1 mm when folded. That makes it 3.9% lighter and 13.1% thinner than the Flip 7. The phone also features an Armor Aluminum frame and an upgraded hinge material, so the internal structure has changed alongside the external footprint.

That combination of reduced weight and a redesigned frame means case manufacturers have had to retool their moulds entirely. A snug fit on the Flip 7 will leave gaps, or simply not close, on the Flip 8.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 Cases: What to Look For

The Flip 8 is available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink, with Mint offered exclusively through Samsung.com, so colour coordination is easier than it has ever been. Many buyers pair their chosen colourway with a clear case to keep the finish visible, while others prefer a contrasting or artistic design.

For straightforward drop protection, OtterBox remains one of the most trusted names in the category. Spigen is the value alternative, with a broader range of finishes and a lower entry price. Samsung itself offers art-collaboration cases featuring Esther Bunny, Pingu, and Kakao Friends for buyers who want something more expressive. Dbrand and Pitaka are also in the mix for those after textured or ultra-thin builds.

One point worth factoring in: the Flip 8 does not include a built-in magnet, so MagSafe accessory compatibility requires a case that adds one. If you use a MagSafe wallet, charger, or mount, check that the case you choose specifically states it includes a magnet.

Spigen’s Lineup: Prices and Options

Spigen has released three Galaxy Z Flip 8 cases at launch. The Ultra Hybrid Pro MagFit, which adds MagSafe compatibility through a built-in ring, is priced at $35. The Nano Pop MagFit, aimed at buyers who want a pop of colour alongside MagSafe support, comes in at $27. The Air Fit Pro MagFit, the slimmest option in the range, sits at $30. All three prices are listed by TechGuySmartBuy.

Spigen also offers a clear hard case without MagSafe functionality for buyers on a tighter budget, though pricing for that option was not confirmed at time of writing.

Screen Protectors: Don’t Skip Them on a Foldable

The Flip 8’s external display and camera lenses are exposed whenever the phone is closed, making screen protection more pressing than on a traditional candybar handset. Spigen’s Glas.tR EZ Fit, priced at $17, is made from 9H tempered glass and includes an EZ Fit installation tray, two front display protectors, and a cleaning kit. The Glas.tR EZ Fit Optik Pro, covering the camera lenses, is $16.

The installation tray is worth noting for anyone who has struggled with bubble-prone application on previous foldables. It guides alignment before the glass touches the screen, reducing the chance of a skewed fit.

Taken together, a Spigen case and both screen protectors would come to roughly $58 to $69 depending on which case you choose, keeping a fully protected setup well under $80 at the budget end of the Spigen range.

With Samsung’s Flip 8 only weeks into its commercial life, case availability is still expanding. Brands that have been slow to release Flip 7 accessories have had fair warning: the form factor is popular enough that stock sells out quickly in the weeks after launch, so locking in a case early is the safer call.
