Award-Winning Artist AMARU Releases ‘Pa Mi Gente’, A Tribute To His South American Roots

Award-winning independent recording artist and actor AMARU has released a new single that he says is a “very public display of affection and love” for his South American roots.

Written and sung in Spanish by AMARU – who is originally from Suriname – and produced with long-time musical collaborator Marcel van Ling, ‘Pa Mi Gente’ (which translates as ‘For My People’) celebrates Latin culture and people in all their glory.

It is AMARU’s 12th single and is taken from his debut album ‘Champagne Attitude’, which won ‘Best Album’ and ‘Emerging Artist’ at the 2019 Global Music Awards.

A stylish lyric video accompanies the release, which is backed by the ‘Sazón Remix’ of ‘Pa Mi Gente’ – which can also be found on ‘Champagne Attitude’ – as well as a previously unreleased dance remix, the ‘Sabor Dance Mix’.

AMARU, who is also a successful actor, author, photographer and model, said: “I’m so happy to release ‘Pa Mi Gente’, which I wrote as a tribute to my homeland and a musical gift for South American people everywhere, whatever their social standing or location.

“What makes it even more special to me is that I decided to release it as a special single 30 years to the day since I left my native country, the Republic of Suriname, for the Netherlands.”

The video for ‘Pa Mi Gente’ is available on Amaru’s official website, and the three-track digital single is out on May 4th 2021 on all major digital platforms.
