Philanthropist M. Patrick Carroll’s Commitment to Charitable Endeavors

Over the past decade, industries worldwide have seen a significant shift in their dedication to social responsibility. Michael Patrick Carroll, Founder, and CEO of CARROLL, a nationally renowned real estate investment, and development company, has been a leader in this arena, continuously focusing on philanthropic endeavors and promoting a community dedicated to giving back.

  1. Patrick Carroll has long been a trailblazer in the real estate industry. Driven by determination and savvy, seeing opportunities where others might not, he has developed a multi-billion-dollar real estate portfolio in less than fifteen years. In the early 2000s, Michael Patrick Carroll worked in the retail industry when a mentor prompted him to transition to the real estate industry. With minimal experience, M. Patrick Carroll pursued private capital from investors to commence his journey, fixing and flipping residential real estate. Eventually, he moved into the development sector, and by the age of 27, he had earned enough money to create a 150-unit housing development. Just as the 2008 recession approached, M. Patrick Carroll sold the development and used the earned capital to acquire three property management companies. This was the beginning of CARROLL.

Throughout his success, philanthropist M. Patrick Carroll has remained dedicated to the concept of giving back. He has been an avid supporter of leveraging one’s position to help surrounding communities and has proven his dedication to philanthropic endeavors in multiple ways.

With success comes opportunity, and M. Patrick Carroll has shown a strong sense of character by leveraging his financial success for philanthropic purposes. As an individual, he donates to more than 50 charities worldwide, focusing especially on promoting health, wellness, and early childhood development.

With more than 40 million people facing hunger each day, M. Patrick Carroll makes an ongoing effort to donate to food banks across the Southeast. Most recently, he has been recognized for his donations to Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver, CO; North Texas Food Bank in Dallas, TX; Atlanta Community Food Bank in Atlanta, GA; Second Harvest Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, NC; Food Bank of Central & Eastern in Raleigh, NC; Lowcountry Food Bank in Charleston, SC; Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida in Orlando, FL; and Feeding Tampa Bay in Tampa, FL. He has not only contributed more than $100,000 to combat hunger, but he also leads by example for younger generations through his generosity.

Additionally, Michael Patrick Carroll is active in Habitat for Humanity, “a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home.” It focuses on providing affordable housing in an effort to build strong and stable communities. He also serves on the National Multifamily Housing Council, “a place where leaders of the apartment industry come together to guide their future success … [providing] a forum for insight, advocacy, and action that enables both members and the communities they build to thrive,” and on the Urban Land Institute, “the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land experts in the world … shaping the future of the industry and creating thriving communities around the globe.”

Acting as a Positive Role Model: Inspiring Younger Generations

  1. Patrick Carroll not only donates financially, but he also serves as a positive mentor for his three sons and the younger generation as a whole. His mission has been, and continues to be, inspiring the next generation of young entrepreneurs to prioritize a healthy lifestyle and personal wellness, while also supporting them in pursuing their dreams. Serving regularly as a motivational speaker, Michael Patrick Carroll sees an opportunity to aid youth in developing a proactive mindset focused on implementing positive change.

He also serves as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club in Tampa. The Boys and Girls Club was established in 1860 with the intent of “capturing boys’ interest, improving their behavior, and increasing their personal expectations and goals.” Character development is the cornerstone of the organization’s mission. Since then, the Boys and Girls Club has expanded to serve youth across the nation. Its mission is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” Its vision today is to “provide a world-class club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters [their] doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.”

  1. Patrick Carroll’s participation in the club is simple. As an active board member, he wants to show high school students that there are multiple avenues to success and that, with the right combination of grit, ambition, and self-worth, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

In addition to working with the Boys and Girls Club, Michael Patrick Carroll delivers motivational speeches and provides scholarships for students at his alma mater, the Jesuit High School in Tampa. By targeting youth and providing them education and insight into pursuing a professional career, Carroll has opened doors and introduced opportunities that the students may have missed otherwise.

Michael Patrick Carroll Philanthropic Response to COVID-19

Most recently, as the world faced fear and uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, M. Patrick Carroll dedicated his time and resources to help those impacted.

He has sent gift cards to each of his onsite employees deemed “essential workers,” showing his support for their ongoing dedication during this time of crisis; he donated $50,000 to community residents in need; and, partnering with the Heart Fund, he donated $25,000 toward feeding families in Ukraine during the Easter season. Michael Patrick Carroll has also launched a social media campaign to encourage others to support those in need. Through the #billionaireschallenge campaign, he has invited other business leaders to give back during the pandemic, and to help get the effort rolling, he pledged a starting donation of $100,000.

In a recent interview, M. Patrick Carroll shared the following: “Some of the most impactful projects I am currently working on are [geared] toward COVID-19 relief. As a recent survivor of COVID-19, I have seen firsthand the damage this disease can cause. This has profoundly impacted my way of life and everyone around me in ways I could have never imagined. I knew I had to do something to thank our frontline healthcare workers, so I donated to more than 10 food banks this week, as well as sending meals to three local hospitals in Atlanta for several days. I’ve donated more than $100,000 to feed families in my hometown of Atlanta, in addition to funding lunches and dinners for hospital workers. Over the weekend, I partnered with the Heart Fund and donated Easter dinners to families across Ukraine. I also wanted to help our community by providing $50,000 to residents in need due to COVID-19. I’m a big believer in giving back, and right now, the world needs help. I’ve started a social media campaign, #billionaireschallenge, [which encourages] other business leaders to act and provide relief for this global crisis. These are just some of the projects I am investing my time in right now, as I want to help as many people as possible get through this crisis.”
