The most recent era mainly opposed the civil rights movement with the use of violence. Membership in this clan was of tight secrecy and although they have announced upholding the Christian morality, the religious group have widely condemned their ways.
How Does The Washington Monument And The KKK Hood Relate To Each Other?
In 2017, there was a wide movement of civilians wanting to get rid of confederate leaders’ statues. They were being viewed negatively and many are saying that they do not represent the America it is today.
The Washington monument-KKK hood relevancy have earned intrigued (and now enraged) looks as the tip of the 555-feet monument appears to be similar to the hood the infamous clan have been wearing and what served as their main distinguishing symbol.
This enraged civilians and triggered the petition to remove confederate statues in the US.
It doesn’t help that there were rumours that the masons involved in building the monument had secretly incorporated what others may deem inappropriate symbols all over the city. This may never be proven at all, but in a country with residents from every religious group and various nationalities seeking to eradicate racism, it was not a very fitting take.
