Brits are returning to printing photos so their memories don’t stay unappreciated in devices

Brits prefer printed photos to on-screen pictures – because it enables them to hold on to memories for longer, it has emerged.

Researcher commissioned by imaging brand Canon UK, found six out of ten of us print pictures we want to keep rather than leaving them on an online platform.

According to the data almost three quarters of the 2,000 adults who took part said most of the photos they now took ended up being left, unappreciated, on mobile phones.

Susie Donaldson of Canon UK & Ireland, which commissioned the report, said: ‘’The positive effect printed photography has on us is undoubtable.

‘’It is the nostalgia that comes with physically holding that memory that invokes emotions.’’

The study also found the typical adult now takes eight photographs every day, although 15 per cent take between 10 and 19.

Locals in London take more photos than any other region in the UK, with 29 per cent shooting more than 10 photos each week.

When asked to describe their emotions surrounding printed pictures 68 per cent said they kept them because they sparked happy memories.

And 15 per cent have felt emotional to the point they have cried when looking at printed photos.

Half the nation (50 per cent) agree that sometimes the most special moments can happen when you are least expecting it, and would like the opportunity to be able to spontaneously print photos when out and about to capture those moments.
