Lockdown led to Rebecca Lilley becoming a finalist in BeingShe Universe 2020

Being open and engaging at the beginning of lockdown has paved the way for dreams Rebecca Lilley thought had faded decades ago – an invitation to enter the prestigious BeingShe Universe 2020 Pageant, TV and Radio appearances, speaking engagements and now a role in an upcoming movie too.

Rebecca Lilley has suffered with depression and anxiety, so when lockdown came in March, she was concerned that depression might rear its head again while home alone and without nights out to distract her.

Determined to do all she could do to avoid this she decided to be proactive and talk about her mental health to help others who may be struggling – so they could learn how to cope too.

Her first step was a radio talk show.

The radio talk was all thanks to therapist and show presenter Saf Buxy, he invited her onto his Maidstone Radio show and from there things grew.

An interview on Revive Global FM followed, then came a request from the Prodigy Bureau to host zoom charity events, which led to her being globally recognised from Jakarta, India to the UAE.

Her bubbly persona yet business drive and determination in the face of adversity make Rebecca a lightning force. Soon followed an invitation to be a finalist for the prestigious BeingShe Universe 2020.

Rebecca is 28 years old, passionate about vintage clothing (appeared as a Retro model in Integrity and Through The Lens magazine), 5′ 5″ and (in her own words) ‘a bit chubby and likes having a laugh…most of the time’.

“NEVER did I think I would be invited to take part in a Pageant!” – Rebecca Lilley

Asking what she needed to do to qualify, Rebecca was told ‘nothing’ – they had heard her speaking and hosting and were so impressed they wanted her to be a finalist AND she has also now been asked to moderate a separate @prodigybureau powerhouse women panel sessions at the Global Empowerment Summit: another event in Dubai.

BeingShe is an international initiative, a movement to empower and transform women into powerful spokespersons as well as advocates of social causes that impact our lives and of those near and dear to us. It also highlights the visions of Health & Wellness, Gender Equality, Education, and Environment.

A woman in her lifetime plays many crucial roles that make her indispensable. Founded by Mrs India Globe 2018, Aparna Bajpai, BeingShe is a platform to encourage women to embrace their uniqueness, to unleash their potential and to live their dreams!

BeingShe brings a platform that provides a career spring bound for its participants and an opportunity to Make a Difference to the World.

I believe that everyone has the right to personal transformation and to become the best version of themselves” – Rebecca Lilley

Rebecca has a great story to tell and plans to keep a written and photographic diary of her time in Dubai, which she would love to share with a newspaper or magazine.

STOP PRESS: Upon her return from Dubai Rebecca will play Lady Margaret in a @world24 film by Supratik Ganguly. A film in vintage dress about a woman with a shopping addiction trying to be something she’s not. A story of ‘fake it till you make it’ – like Rebecca
