SOCIAL NETWORK INVITES HOME ALONERS TO CONNECT ON CHRISTMAS DAY

A new social startup is inviting people who will be alone this Christmas to come together virtually during this time.

With the Government’s last minute announcement, the plans of many families around the country have been changed unexpectedly. This will result in thousands of people having to spend Christmas on their own, many for the first time.

Frindow.com, a social website launched just a few months ago, has organised a Christmas Day Zoom chat for all who will find themselves alone this year.

Details for the festive Zoom chat can be found by joining the website, which is free to use.

Founder Marcus Hamilton saysLoneliness was a huge issue before the pandemic. With Covid, the crisis is now at a tipping point. This Christmas would have been a short, but significant respite, at the end of a very challenging year. Charities and social enterprises like mine are doing their best to help mitigate the inevitable fallout”.

About Frindow

Launched in April 2020, Frindow.com was set up to tackle loneliness and help people form new friendships through a common interest or circumstance.  Marcus Hamilton, the founder, was inspired to create the site by his elderly, housebound grandmother who experienced chronic loneliness. The website now has thousands of users across the whole of the UK.
