Under tight Corona virus  restrictions, viewers voted online and chose the British film ahead of three other films nominated in the category. The results were announced on 30 December 2020 on the Detaron TV website https://www.detarontv.com/detaron-tv-awards-2020

Written and directed by debuting British film maker Chuba Obi, the story is about a devastated woman Diana (Jessica Jay) in a vengeful plot against her cruel runaway ex fiancé. Diana’s close friend helps her relive and expose the turmoil of her heartbreak – but is her friend helping her run from the law, or is she helping Diana run from her own shadows and demons, or what else could be the reason for the deadly betrayals?

According to writer/director Chuba Obi, “…to say we are pleased about the win would be an understatement. The whole team is super joyful, and full of gratitude first to God almighty, and to the  audience for this recognition of our humble labour of love. It’s so uplifting, words cannot describe…”

“…the story is an account of the emotional turmoil  people go through in private, which is often not seen by anyone else, but which manifests in the form of strange and twisted actions by the victim, often with very unfortunate outcomes for everyone…”

According to Chuba Obi, the film was practically made  with sweat and goodwill, overcoming the severe shortage of funding for independent films. It is a testimony to the rarely adhered to advise by scholars of film making, that the practical route to independent film making in the face of scarce financial resources, is cast and crew collaboration, and resource pooling, from conception to sales. Mr Obi says it evidently works, and is a formula his team will rely on for as long as they need to.
