Embrace zero waste catering for the best partying experience

No party, office lunch, or celebration is complete without catering, and there’s no better way to cater than with a zero-waste menu. The food we eat forms an important part of our lives and eating together unifies us all. If you want your event to be memorable for the right reasons, why not consider starting on the right foot by choosing delicious vegan catering with a zero waste twist? To help you out, we’ve put together some tips and ideas on how to go green while still going classy.

Our impact on others starts at home, so it’s best to start from within if you want to change things about the food industry. Going zero waste isn’t easy, but neither is making a real difference in this world – so you’ll have to put up with having to tell the boss that disposables are no longer an option for catering. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it when you see your guest’s reaction when they realize what’s on offer.

With this in mind, using compostable packaging where possible is better than using none at all. The next best thing is reusable partyware. If not, then aim for recyclable or biodegradable options. If your guests want plastics, then take them home, don’t landfill them! Doing away with plastics altogether means imagining a world without them and making sure that everyone knows just how easy it can be to do so.,

Remember, large quantities of organics are suitable for compost but should really be composted at home – otherwise, they become landfills. Consult Hooters for the best zero waste catering.

Things to consider for your catering:

Use glass or metal drinking straws instead of plastic ones.- No straws! If you are using metal, then try avoiding aluminum as it is not recyclable. There are plenty of options online if you are looking for a more sustainable alternative to the usual disposables.

– If possible, avoid Styrofoam and use biodegradable packaging where possible.  This can be anything from brown paper bags to bio-degradable packaging, so don’t forget to have some of these on hand too!

– Avoid using disposable plastic cutlery. Instead, opt for reusable bamboo utensils. These look just as classy as regular cutlery and don’t contain any plastic.

Luckily some supermarkets have a range of products made from recycled plastic which you can buy cheaply. They may not look as good, but they will last the distance and save you money in the long run, too! – Try to use recycled plastic crockery instead of using new plastics for your catering. Just make sure that all of it is clean before you recycle them by adding them to your compost bin at home.

Leave out a bin and let your guests do the rest!- Don’t forget the little things, like recycling containers, napkins, or greaseproof paper (if cooking). It’s amazing how much rubbish we produce when we’re catering, and these items can really help reduce waste and at events.

– Make it look good too.  Use plants, flowers, and fruit as garnish and centerpieces, and don’t forget to use reusable table cloths or towels that you can wash at home. If the budget allows, try using real plates instead of disposable plastic ones, so no double handling is required.

If doing all of this sounds too much like hard work, then remember that if you cater sustainably, you will be rewarded for your efforts because creating a positive impact starts with how we eat and who we eat with. It’s not just about going green but also connecting with those around us in a way that better health, happiness, and life.
