Authentic Danish Bakers Ole & Steen unveil these delicious new cakes to celebrate the long-awaited summer.

 

Thus far, the British summer has been a washout, marked by cold days, rain, wind, and minimal sunshine to provide the warmth we all long for.

 

As sunshine beckons just around the corner, Ole & Steen will celebrate Midsommar—a Scandinavian festivity honoringthe summer solstice—by unveiling three special and delightfully indulgent cakes.

Earlier this month Ole & Steen announced they were giving away 250,000 of their iconic Cinnamon Socials for free to start the solstice celebrations.

Ole & Steen will now share some more hygge – a Danish word for relax and enjoy the good things in life – with the new cake menu launch.

The authentic Danish bakers want you to enjoy a slice of the summer solstice with a slice or two of the indulgent cakes packed with vibrant flavours and hand finished to pastry perfection. Expert bakers at Ole & Steen believe they have created something for every sweet tooth!

Choose between a quintessentially British Strawberries and Cream cake as a nod to the iconic Wimbledon Tennis Championships. The mouthwatering desert features a white chocolate and lemon sponge topped with strawberry mousse, fresh strawberry, whipped cream and dried rose petals. This cake can serve one person or a large version can be ordered online for up to six people.

The collection also includes a raspberry, pistachio tart, with an almond base topped with dark chocolate, pistachio cream, fresh raspberries and pistachios.

All of these delicious desserts are perfect for a picnic in the park or garden, celebration or afternoon treat.

The Midsommar menu will launch at all Ole & Steen locations on Tuesday June 25 and these three new cakes will sit alongside the brand’s signature cream cakes including The Strawberry Tart and the Gateau Marcel.

To celebrate the launch of the cakes Ole & Steen is holding a special champagne VIP media event at their Wigmore Street branch in St Christopher’s Place, central London.

The Wigmore Street branch will be specially decorated in a summer floral arch which promises to be a spectacular entrance to memorable night of flavoursome celebrations.

Authentic Danish bakers Ole & Steen celebrate the Midsommar festival with a record-breaking giveaway of 250,000 signature Cinnamon Socials.

The Scandinavian festival Midsommar, celebrates the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, on June 23 and June 24.

In various public spaces, remote areas, and forests, thousands of solstice parties are arranged. Attendees dance around the Midsummer maypole adorned with wreaths, engage in games, and gather around bonfires until the early hours of the morning.

Ole & Steen is sharing some hygge; Danish for relax and enjoy the good things in life, with the UK by giving away 250,000 slices of their irresistible layered pastry during the month of June.

The authentic Danish Cinnamon Social is a layered pastry dough, with soft flavourful fillings, topped with just the right amount of icing. For those looking for a plant-based pastry, there’s a vegan option too!

To receive the free slice of Cinnamon Social, which normally costs £4.25, new guests should download the Ole & Steen app from the app store and register. Once they do they will find 450 points in their app which is enough to get them a free slice of Cinnamon Social*.

Not forgetting their loyal hygge lovers, all current app users will receive a slice of social too.

The authentic Danish bakers, Ole & Steen, celebrated for their delectable Cinnamon Social pastries, freshly made rye breads, and sandwiches, have unveiled an exciting summer menu. This new selection is brimming with innovative flavours, varied textures, and vibrant colours, all crafted to be savoured in the warm, sunny weather. The menu aims to offer a refreshing and delightful culinary experience, perfect for summer enjoyment.

 

The new menu is all about quality and premium ingredients, with a range of options including fresh toasties, open rye sandwiches, premium drinks, and breakfast selections. As we welcome the glorious new summer season, these can be enjoyed inside or alfresco as the mood takes you.

 

The menu was crafted with inspiration from the Danish concept of Hygge, encapsulating coziness and comfort. Hygge encourages taking moments away from the daily hustle to relish simple pleasures, either in the company of loved ones or enjoying solitary moments.

 

The vibrant new summer menu includes Sundried Tomato & Pesto Danish, a pastry filled with sundried tomatoes and mozzarella topped with basil pesto. 

 

Vegan No’duja toastie – focaccia filled with plant-based no’duja, plant-based ‘cheese’ and spinach.

 

Mozzarella, Pesto and Tomato toastie, a focaccia filled with mozzarella, basil pesto, tomato and spinach. 

 

There’s also a selection of open sandwiches on Ole & Steen’s much loved rye bread. Pastrami Open Rye – carrot rye topped with mustard mayonnaise, pastrami, sauerkraut, crispy onions and gherkins. 

 

A Vegan Edamame Pesto Hummus Open Rye – carrot rye topped with edamame pesto hummus, roasted tomatoes and pea shoots.

 

Smoked Salmon Open Rye – carrot rye topped with smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, pickled cucumber & fennel, dill and pink peppercorns. 

 

As well as a delicious Tarragon Chicken Open rye – carrot rye topped with a chicken tarragon salad, radish, crispy onions and pea shoots  

 

The new breakfast croissants are filled with fresh, tasty ingredients. Prosciutto, Mozzarella & Fig Jam Croissant – croissant filled with prosciutto, mozzarella, fig jam and rocket. Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant – croissant filled with kimchi, Cheddar and spinach.

 

New drinks include Fresh Lemonade – lemonade with lime, ginger and fresh mint as well as premium Fentimans Victorian Lemonade, Rasberry Lemonade and Sparkling Elderflower.
