THE UK’S FIRST SUSTAINABLE WALL ART PRINT COMPANY

Imagine if you could create something beautiful from pollution? EcoArt licences original artists’ work and prints their images onto fabric made from recycled plastic waste, so people not only have a thing of beauty brighten their home, but something everlasting repurposed from our throwaway culture.

What We Do

We work with established and emerging artists, giving them the licence to sell their prints on canvas made from 100% recycled plastic and framed with FSC certified sustainably grown wood.

Why We Do it
EcoArt was founded to combat overconsumption. Founder, Peter Swingler, believes that too much ‘stuff’ leads to unsustainable levels of waste, pollution, and depletion of the world’s resources. But it also makes consumers addicted to the buzz of buying things just because they are popular or trendy. This reduces originality and creativity, encourages the theft of artistic ideas, and fills people’s homes with copycat rip-offs. Peter wants to see original artists in unique homes without damaging the planet.

“It’s important to us that we work with genuinely good artists and bring original wall art to people’s homes. Whether you’re a buyer or an artist, we believe in having original ideas and expressing individual taste — We stick by people’s rights to defend and express their artistic preferences. It’s also key that our science keeps up to date with sustainable practices; we want our buyers, artists and the greater population to benefit from the presence of EcoArt. Sustainability isn’t a choice anymore. It’s a fundamental need.”

How it Began
Peter started a family business in the manufacture and printing of textiles, which became a UK-wide success over the first half of his lifetime. Sandwiched between the Bristol Channel and the foothills of Somerset’s designated Area of Natural Beauty, the Mendip Hills, he became growingly conscious of the environment. He began researching recycled fabrics and speaking to artists to see if they would offer their original art as eco-friendly prints. He sought to arrange a fair, mutually beneficial artistic licence with them, ensuring they get paid for their work and the consumer gets the best of their ideas. He soon had over 20 artists on the books, and EcoArt launched in the final quarter of 2021.

About Ecoart
Founded in 2021, EcoArt is the first company to supply wall art on 100% recycled plastic fabric in wooden frames made from certified FSC suppliers direct from the artist to the consumer. Based in rural Somerset, between the Bristol Chanel and the Mendip Hills, Ecoart was founded by fabric, print, retail and manufacturing dynamo Peter Swingler after he felt compelled to act on the climate emergency. He offers artists 100% control over and fair recompense for their original works via his artistic licensing contracts. His goal is to create wall art that repurposes waste from our throwaway culture into something stunningly beautiful worth treasuring forever.
