Shanquella Robinson Murder Suspect is Charged in Mexico

Mexican authorities have charged an American woman for using the drug fentanyl Shanquella Robinson’s mysterious death.

Robinson, a 25 year-old woman from North Carolina, died while on vacation in San Jose del Cabo with six of her friends. Although her friends claimed she died from alcohol poisoning, an autopsy revealed that her death was caused by a severe neck injury or spinal cord injury. Her death was being considered a potential murder by a prosecutor. 

Daniel de la Rosa, attorney general for Mexico’s Baja California Sur, told CNNOn Wednesday, it was revealed that Robinson’s murder suspect is one of her friends.

Her death was made public earlier this month when a video of her beating another woman, identified as Robinson, surfaced online. The video shows one woman beating the other in what is believed be the luxury villa where they stayed.

The story attracted the attention of celebrities such as activist Tamika Mallory, and NBA player Kyrie Irving. Robinson’s sister Quilla Long started a GoFundMe campaignTo cover funeral costs and legal fees. The FBI’s Charlotte Division opened an investigation into Robinson’s death earlier in the month.
