New book offers hope to sufferers of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety, depression and other medically unexplained symptoms and invisible illnesses.

A new book, The Intelligent Body, by leading Cardiff-based Chartered Psychologist, Kyle Davies BSc MPhil CPsychol AFBPsS is set to offer new hope to sufferers of conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety, depression, migraine, and stress by helping to reverse their symptoms from the inside out (without expensive supplements or medications).

Fibromyalgia recently came to prominence in the press when Lady Gaga had to cancel her European tour due to the condition. The NHS in the UK estimates that 2-4.5% of people in the UK (around 1.2 million and 2.8 million) may have fibromyalgia syndrome. Women are two times more likely to be affected by the condition than men. Symptoms include widespread pain, extreme sensitivity, stiffness, fatigue, poor sleep quality cognitive problems, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome and depression.

Kyle Davies is the creator of Energy-Flow Coaching™, a MindBody approach to help people achieve optimum wellbeing, and a richer, deeper life experience. He has spent the last 15 years successfully helping thousands of sufferers of chronic health challenges such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, depression and anxiety, recover their health and lead fulfilled lives. He is a true pioneer and was one of the first people in his field to realise that unconscious emotional stress is a major cause of physical illness.

Kyle, in collaboration with doctors, healthcare professionals and academics has sought to develop and evolve theories connecting stress with chronic disease, to include practical applications for recovery of health and wellbeing. These innovations are reflected in his first book, The Intelligent Body: Reversing Chronic Fatigue & Pain from the Inside Out, published by W W Norton & Co. (New York). This book explains the origins of chronic symptoms and outlines the road to recovery. Readers are offered life-changing principles and practices to regain harmony in their lives and bodies, whether they suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue, trauma, depression, or anxiety. It explains how we can learn to heal ourselves from the inside out by reconceptualizing the relationships among our bodies, minds, and emotions, embracing the full importance of the mind-body connection, and tapping our natural restorative capacities.

Commenting on the launch of his new book, Kyle said,
“ For over 15 years I have been promoting the connection between stress, chronic pain and our emotions and it now seems that the world is beginning to wake up to this concept. We are seeing growing numbers of people suffering from debilitating chronic symptoms of pain, fatigue, inflammation and cognitive impairment that medicine is failing to resolve. A new paradigm is needed where we understand the mind and body as an interconnected flowing system. This paradigm embraces the self-healing, self-correcting, and self-creating natures of our connected mind-body system.
“Physical symptoms are simply a sign of disharmony and energetic imbalance, a ‘tap on the shoulder’ from our intelligent body that is trying to get our attention. This ‘tap’ on the shoulder can become debilitating symptoms over time. When we pay attention and understand this communication, we can take the steps to facilitate our own self-healing”.

As well as providing counselling services to individuals, Kyle also provides workshops to large corporate organisations and businesses helping to alleviate stress amongst employees, improving their wellbeing and giving them coping skills to perform better in their jobs. This ultimately reduces the numbers of days lost due to illness in the workplace.

Kyle has made numerous TV and radio appearances in the UK, USA and Europe. He is a regular contributor on ITV News Wales and has appeared on Good Morning Washington in the USA and he is an international member of the American Psychological Association. He is the host of the podcast Unleashing Potentials.
