UK Supplier launches revolutionary new CBG – the ‘stem cell’ of CBD
In recent years the acceptance and usage of CBD as a health supplement has exploded with the Evening Standard reporting in April that the number of Brits now using CBD oil has doubled from 125,000 to 250,000 in just one year. Gradually the quality of CBD supplements has increased and this evolution has now led to the development of a new cannabinoid product, set to take the market by storm.
UK-based Herts Hemp is one of only a handful of suppliers that is now able to supply CBG, or Cannabigerol, dubbed the “stem cell” of CBD which could potentially have even greater health benefits than that of CBD. Like CBD, CBG is also a non-intoxicating cannabinoid meaning it doesn’t get you high, or impair your judgment, making it safe to consume before driving and completely legal.
“Most of us are now familiar with the two most commonly known cannabinoids, CBD (Cannabidiol), the non-psychoactive substance and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which remains illegal in the UK due to its psychoactive properties. However, all cannabinoids, including the famous two, begin life as CBG,” explains Herts Hemp’s founder Hakan Hemstrom.
CBGa (cannabigerol acid) is the chemical precursor of CBG, and as the plant matures, natural enzymes transform it into CBDa and THCa which subsequently become CBD and THC once exposed to heat. However, to date, CBG has remained notoriously difficult to harvest in sufficient quantities.
“Once the cannabis plant is fully matured only trace amounts of CBG remains, often less than 1% depending on the strain. To overcome this, breeders have been selectively breeding cannabis plants with higher concentrations of CBG to levels where we can cultivate enough to finally offer a pure CBG product commercially. We are now proud to launch our Herts Hemp 500mg CBG drops and are extremely excited to uncover the potential of this new generation cannabis extract.”
Herts Hemp’s vision is to abolish the stigma associated with cannabis and bring it to the homes of those who need it the most and with this new product, they may be set to revolutionise the UK cannabis industry.
Based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, Herts Hemp was founded in 2015 by Hakan Hemstrom and has become synonymous with high quality CBD products. Hakan Hemstrom was motivated to increase transparency and quality in the burgeoning industry, which was fraught with low grade options.
“Although the industry is much cleaner nowadays, we still adhere to the original guidelines introduced by the Cannabis Trades Association (CTA), which means that each and every new batch of Herts Hemp’s products is independently lab tested to guarantee safety, cleanliness and the correct cannabinoid content. And in the name of transparency, all lab results are published on our website.”
