James Rowland WINS AT VIRTUAL CIM MARKETING EXCELLENCE AWARDS

James Rowland was among the winners at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)’s Marketing Excellence Awards virtual event yesterday. He was crowned Marketer of the Year, as judged by an esteemed panel of experts, including Bonnie Pelosi, director of brand marketing and communications at EY, and leading industry figures from Prudential, Groupe Bel and the Financial Times amongst many others.

James scooped the prestigious Marketer of the Year award for his unrivalled performance in delivering marketing excellence for clients. The award recognised the stellar impact one individual had on an organisation. Whether a colleague had gone beyond the parameters of their role, dedicated an unsurpassable level of commitment, showed creativity, originality and provided a remarkable personal contribution.

Now in their eleventh year, the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards illustrate the range of creative talent from in-house teams and agencies in the field of marketing, submitted before the pandemic in 2020.

The virtual awards were hosted by comedian, Tom Allen and highlighted the multifaceted nature of marketing, with a broad range of businesses and academic institutions winning at this year’s awards.

James Rowland said: “Absolutely over the moon this afternoon to learn that I’m the winner of the prestigious CIM’s Marketer of the Year 2020. I started my marketing journey just over ten years ago and the most important thing I’ve learned through that time is that teamwork is everything. I’m extremely grateful to have such a talented team around me, to work with marketing experts every day and to have fantastic mentors at Refinitiv.”

Chris Daly, CEO at Chartered Institute of Marketing said: “Congratulations to all those shortlisted. When we first announced entries to be open back in 2019, we could not have anticipated or imagined the challenge the world has faced over the past year. Yet despite this, marketers have proved their resilience and creativity at every stage, which is why we are delighted to be able to announce the 2020 winners and reward excellence in the field of marketing.

“This year has tested our industry like no other, but the breadth and wealth of today’s shortlist ought to serve as a vital reminder that our industry is a powerful and critical function of businesses, particularly during challenging times.”
