Tom Petty Property Slams Kari Lake for Marketing campaign’s ‘Unlawful’ Use of Track

Tom Petty’s property stated this week it was shocked that Kari Lake, the Trump-backed Republican who misplaced the Arizona governor race, used his track “I Will not Again Down” in her marketing campaign.

On Thursday, Petty’s property tweeted that the 1989 hit track was “stolen and used with out permission or a license to advertise Kari Lake’s failed marketing campaign.”

“That is unlawful. We’re exploring all of our authorized choices to cease this unauthorized use and to ban future misappropriations of Tom’s beloved anthem,” the tweet stated. “Thanks to all the followers who introduced this to our consideration and who assist us shield his legacy on daily basis.”

 

The Arizona Republic reported that Lake’s marketing campaign used the track in a YouTube montage of her on the marketing campaign trial that has since been taken down. In response to the outlet, the video highlighted Lake refusing to simply accept the election outcomes and hinted at her claims that the midterms have been rigged in opposition to her.

Lake posted a video to Twitter on Thursday titled “Arizona, we’re nonetheless within the struggle.” Within the video, Lake made unsubstantiated claims about voter disenfranchisement and implied doable authorized motion, saying “I am doing all the pieces in my energy to proper these wrongs.”
