Pansophical’s Debut Album ‘Pay it Forward’ Premieres This Christmas

Pansophical’s inaugural album, “Pay it Forward,” a musical narrative crafted for adults yet reminiscent of children’s tales, is slated for release in digital music stores on 24th December.

Pansophical represents a unique collaboration between two seasoned artists, Dave Thomas and Eric Nash Schermerhorn. Their fusion of music and spoken word creates an immersive sound design, blending stories with a mix of modern and ancient instruments.

This genre, dubbed Musical Storytelling, offers a distinct approach to narrative delivery, fostering a shift in perspective about shared stories.

Dave Thomas brings over five decades of experience in the entertainment industry, lending his voice to thousands of television commercials globally. His diverse skills span writing, directing, voice acting, dance, comedy, theatre, anime, and documentaries.

Eric Nash’s musical journey began at 12, playing guitar. His big break came with David Bowie’s Tin Machine tour. His skills in playing and songwriting have led him to collaborate with renowned artists like Iggy Pop, THE THE, and Seal.

Their mutual agent introduced Dave and Eric, leading to their collaboration on innovative storytelling techniques, pairing original music with contemporary fables for the evolving music aficionado.

Dave shares his perspective: “These songs and words aren’t separated by blank empty pauses, they are knitted together with the song of nature. Music, story, and nature are scaffolding that shares one simple message; evolutionarily speaking, we as a species haven’t stopped evolving. It isn’t about me, it’s not about you, it’s about us, all of us. We can do better. Pansophy is a path to get there.”

The duo was joined by Orbel Babyan, a virtuoso in Middle Eastern and North African string instruments like the oud and setar.

Dave adds: “In our first record session, I asked Eric and Babyan to speak through their guitars. Improvised conversations became songs, and music seemed to be born from thin air or wisps of smoke. It was magic. The striking result is organic, precise new music.

“Musical Storytelling deserves a genre of its own and it is our hope that we can contribute towards that recognition with this album. My voice has convinced people to spend trillions of dollars over my career – now I’m using it for something positive.”

Pre-launch listeners have praised the album, describing it as “a musical journey that transcends the ordinary” and “a very tranquil, grounding, relaxing, enjoyable and enriching experience.”

Pansophical’s “Pay it Forward” album will be available in digital music stores from 24th December.
