MAYYAAGAYEVA REINFORCES ITS COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY WITH AW21 COLLECTION
LONDON, February 25, 2021 – MAYYAAGAYEVA, a London-based slow fashion brand, is excited to announce the launch of its Autumn/Winter 2021 collection, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
The collection introduces a line of genderless multipurpose and multi-size pieces that are true to the brand’s minimalist and sustainable design aesthetic. The 12-piece collection is offered in a muted colour palette and plays on the juxtaposition of fitted and oversized tailoring. Trousers and coats were made from wool and stretch mesh, while dresses, blouses, and various other pieces were created with dead-stock and recycled materials.
MAYYAAGAYEVA is committed to creating multifunctional garments that can be reused on different occasions, and the Autumn/Winter 2021 collection is no different. All items were designed with intricate string detailing that not only adds to the overall design aesthetic, but intentionally and thoughtfully allows users to adjust the size and the length of each garment.
The aim? To provide alternatives to the current fast-fashion mentality and to raise the standards in the fashion industry regarding sustainability and ethical manufacturing.
“Nothing is more important to me than to minimize our environmental impact as a brand and to design collections that anyone can feel good in,” said creative director Mayya Agayeva. “I’m always challenging myself to create more sustainable and ethical collections and I’m glad to continue that mission with our Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.”
Mayya Agayeva is a recent graduate of the MA Menswear at the Royal College of Art in London. She launched her brand in July 2020 with the objective to create sustainable and genderless designs that challenge the current fast-fashion mentality.
Earlier this week, MAYYAAGAYEVA showcased at London Fashion Week Designer Platform for the second season in a row. The Autumn/Winter 2021 collection is now available for preview. It was shot by photographer Szilard Orban, styled by Jacinta Apelt, and modelled by Amar and Riyam.
