Home Leisure Direct perfects home delivery planning with PODFather
Home Leisure Direct, the UK’s largest specialist games room retailer, has introduced PODFather’s driver tracking and electronic proof of delivery software to streamline processes across its white glove delivery service. Renowned for delivering and installing an extensive range of high-end home games room products – from pool tables to jukeboxes and football tables to arcade machines – Home Leisure Direct needed a planning partner capable of eradicating paper tickets from its rapidly growing business. Having reviewed a selection of available software solutions Home Leisure Direct were impressed by PODFather’s ability to offer paperless delivery planning and real time vehicle tracking. With PODFather rolling out, and business expansion plans in the pipeline, Home Leisure Direct is benefitting from customer ETA notifications, live tracking, and electronic proof of delivery.
Since its launch in 2007, Home Leisure Direct has grown to become an award winning and highly regarded games room retailer with over 35 employees and an impressive product range. Historically all deliveries were outsourced to couriers but having found this to be unreliable the team made the decision to take transport operations in house. “Offering a premium delivery service is fundamental to ensuring customer satisfaction when you are delivering and installing high value items, such as the ones we offer,” comments Ted Wiltshire, Operations Manager at Home Leisure Direct. “In the past we used to outsource deliveries to third party couriers but having been let down two Christmases in a row we decided the best course of action was to take the bulk of our delivery in house.”
With limited experience, and many orders to fulfill the operations team embraced the challenge, setting up a successful delivery operation to service customers in the South of England, with couriers still used for the North. Historical process relied on the production and movement of paper tickets which, as order volumes increased, was often slow, unreliable and did not provide the level of real time visibility that the business required.
The PODFather system is now used to capture vehicle checks, track drivers, and collect real time electronic proof of delivery information. All drivers have access to the PODFather smartphone app which allows transport teams to share delivery information and capture real time status information, giving head office more visibility than ever before. For customers, the introduction of ETA notifications and live delivery tracking are a big plus, with customers loving the visibility that the new PODFather process gives them.
“We are really pleased with how easily the PODFather system has rolled out across our business,” adds Wiltshire. “We can now see where deliveries are anytime, all the time; our drivers have quickly gotten to grips with the easy to use app and our customers are loving the ETA notifications and live delivery tracking. I would definitely recommend it to others looking to enhance delivery service with easy to use technology.”
“We are helping Home Leisure Direct offer a white glove delivery service to support their premium product range,” adds Colin McCreadie, Managing Director at PODFather. “This is a great example of how our cloud-based planning system, and easy to use driver app, can make a big difference to companies who have historically relied on paper-based processes.”
